Questions people ask
What is Kick, and when did it launch?
Kick is a live streaming platform, a direct rival to Twitch, that opened as a beta in December 2022. Trainwreckstv announced it on December 5, 2022, and signups opened within days, per Tubefilter. It works the way Twitch does, with live channels, chat and subscriptions, but it pays streamers 95 percent of subscription revenue and allows casino streams. It arrived weeks after Twitch began banning streams of unlicensed gambling sites such as Stake on October 18, 2022, per NPR, and Forbes Australia reported that its founders launched Kick after Twitch banned Stake.
Who owns Kick, and who is the CEO?
Kick was co-founded by Ed Craven and Bijan Tehrani, the two men who also co-founded the crypto casino Stake, per Forbes Australia in February 2025. Craven is Kick’s CEO, per Dexerto, and he hosts a weekly show, Kick Talk, on his own channel, kick.com/eddie, whose 113th episode aired on October 31, 2026. Neither founder has published an ownership split. Trainwreckstv, who announced the platform, called himself “a non-owner advisor and non-exclusive broadcaster,” per Tubefilter. Kick does not publish financial results; Craven told Forbes Australia he expected it to turn a profit within two to three years.
Is Kick owned by Stake? Are Kick and Stake the same company?
Kick and Stake are separate brands, but they share founders and sit in the same group of companies. Ed Craven and Bijan Tehrani co-founded both, per Forbes Australia, which describes Easygo as the private Australian company behind both Stake and Kick. Easygo’s own website lists Kick as “one of the brands in the Easygo ecosystem,” and a 2022 job listing described Kick as “a new venture created by the founders of Easygo and Stake.com,” per Tubefilter. The Formula 1 team that raced as Stake F1 Team Kick Sauber carried Kick’s name under a Stake deal, per Forbes Australia.
Does Adin Ross own Kick? How much is his Kick deal worth?
Adin Ross did not found Kick, no share he holds in it has been published, and no amount for his Kick deal has ever been reported. Kick was founded by Ed Craven and Bijan Tehrani, per Forbes Australia. Dexerto has described Kick as a site Ross co-owns, in December 2024 and again in November 2025, but neither he nor Kick has published what share, if any, he holds. When he signed in 2023, after Twitch banned him that February, he called it “the biggest streaming deal of any creator of all time, as far as I know,” and he and Trainwreckstv denied a rumored $150 million over two years, per Dexerto. He said in December 2024 he was leaving Kick indefinitely, then stayed; Twitch unbanned him in March 2025. As of November 4, 2026 he streams on Kick, where he has about 2.87 million followers, and uses Twitch for big events.
How much was xQc’s Kick deal worth, and how long was it?
xQc’s Kick deal was worth $70 million and up to about $100 million with incentives, over two years, per his agent Ryan Morrison speaking to The New York Times in June 2023. Dexerto reported that the deal was non-exclusive, so he kept streaming on Twitch too. Days later, when Pokimane said on stream that he was getting $100 million, xQc answered, “It’s more than that but it doesn’t matter,” per Dexerto. Kick has never confirmed the figure, and in September 2024 Dexerto noted that the contract’s length had not been publicly confirmed.
Did xQc leave Kick? Is xQc still on Kick?
No, as of November 4, 2026 xQc still streams on Kick: he was live on kick.com/xqc that day, with about 1.5 million followers. Whether his 2023 contract was renewed when it ran out has not been reported in an outlet we accept. In September 2024 he said he did not know whether he would renew, telling viewers “I don’t know what the future looks like,” per Dexerto, which reported that he splits his time between Twitch and Kick. He has also defended the platform in public, including against BruceDropEmOff in June 2024.
Does Kick pay streamers? How does Kick pay, and is it hourly?
Yes, Kick pays streamers in three ways: 95 percent of subscription revenue, Partner Program payments based on audience, and private contracts for its biggest names. Kick’s help center describes streamers “receiving 95% of the subscription revenue they generate through the 95/5 split.” The Partner Program began as the Creator Incentive Program, which paid a fixed hourly rate and opened to all streamers in February 2024, per Tubefilter, and was renamed Kick Partner in March 2025, per Dexerto. Kick now says its partner rates are calculated over a rolling window of recent streams from average audience, language and region, and it does not publish the rates, per its help center (September 2026). Contract pay is private: N3on says Kick pays him well without giving figures, and YourRAGE said in December 2024 that Kick still owed him his last payment or two, which co-founder Bijan Tehrani denied.
Does Kick or Twitch pay streamers more?
Per subscription, Kick pays more: streamers keep 95 percent there, against 50 percent on Twitch by default. Kick’s 95/5 split is in its help center. On Twitch, streamers outside its Plus Program keep 50 percent, and Plus members can earn 60/40 or 70/30 by hitting monthly sub point targets, under the rules Tubefilter reported in January 2024. Total pay also depends on audience, and Twitch is still bigger: it logged about 2.2 times Kick’s watch time in Q3 2026, per Streams Charts. That is why several streamers in our index kept Twitch as home and use Kick as a second channel.
Is Kick bigger than Twitch? How many people watch Kick?
No, Kick is smaller than Twitch, though it is growing faster as of November 2026. In the third quarter of 2026, Kick had a record 2.04 billion hours watched, up 30.7 percent on the quarter and 6.4 percent of the market Streams Charts tracks; Twitch had 4.51 billion hours and 14.2 percent, and YouTube 13.62 billion. For 2024, Forbes Australia put Kick at 2.3 billion hours against almost 20 billion for Twitch, with about 900,000 channels. Easygo’s Kick page claims more than 500 million monthly hours watched; that is the company’s own figure.
Who is the biggest streamer on Kick?
By hours watched in Q3 2026, the top Kick streamer was absi, Hani Al-Qablan, with more than 50 million hours, per Streams Charts, which warned that earlier research found unusual audience patterns on his channel. By followers, the largest channels we checked on November 4, 2026 were Westcol (about 4.66 million), Adin Ross (about 2.87 million), Spreen (about 2.04 million) and xQc (about 1.5 million). Much of Kick’s audience is Spanish and Arabic speaking: Forbes Australia named Maherco and Westcol as its top performers in December 2024. In our index, N3on is the largest Kick channel, with about 1.1 million followers.
What are the biggest Kick streaming deals?
The biggest Kick deal on the record is xQc’s 2023 contract, worth $70 million and up to about $100 million, per his agent to The New York Times as reported by Dexerto. Amouranth signed the same week in a deal Tubefilter said was reportedly worth $30 to $40 million, without naming a source. Adin Ross’s 2023 deal has never had a reported figure. Nickmercs’s 2023 deal was reportedly worth $10 million, per Dexerto. The largest number attached to Kick is an offer that was not taken: Adin Ross said Ed Craven offered “$140m for the first year” for him, Kai Cenat and IShowSpeed, per Dexerto in July 2025; Kick has not confirmed it. The full list is in the table above.
Is gambling allowed on Kick? Why are there so many gambling streams?
Yes, Kick allows slots and casino streams, which Twitch restricted in October 2022, and its founders also run the crypto casino Stake. Twitch banned streams of unlicensed gambling sites including Stake, Rollbit, Duelbits and Roobet from October 18, 2022, per NPR, and Kick launched weeks later. NBC News reported in August 2023 that Kick offers a setting to hide gambling content, while slots and casino categories stayed prominent on its front page. Casino sponsors are visible across our index: Cuffem’s Kick bio reads “Sponsored by Stake.US,” SteveWillDoIt’s promotes the casino Gamdom, and N3on co-owns an online casino. Nickmercs said on his first Kick stream that gambling was “part of the contract,” which Kick’s head of partnerships denied, per PC Gamer.
What happened with Jean Pormanove, and is Kick banned in France?
Kick is not banned in France as of November 2026, but it is under formal investigation there after French streamer Jean Pormanove died during a Kick livestream on August 18, 2025. Pormanove, Raphael Graven, was 46; French minister Clara Chappaz wrote that he “was humiliated and mistreated for months live on the Kick platform,” per CBS News and AFP, which reported that Kick declined to discuss an earlier investigation into such videos, citing confidentiality. The French government asked a Paris court to block Kick nationwide, per Dexerto, and on December 19, 2025 the court rejected the bid as disproportionate, per Le Club des Juristes and Dexerto, which reported that prosecutors asked for arrest warrants for Kick’s Australia-based executives on January 27, 2026; Kick said it had received no formal summons and had never paid the streamers for specific content. In August 2026 a Nice court gave two streamers suspended sentences for violence against him, and Reuters reported that Kick remains under formal investigation, per Daily Maverick.
Which streamers left Kick and went back to Twitch?
The best known moves back to Twitch are BruceDropEmOff in 2024, YourRAGE and Nickmercs in late 2024, and Adin Ross, who returned to Twitch in 2025 while keeping his Kick channel. BruceDropEmOff went back on May 31, 2024 and later said Kick “killed my motivation,” per Dexerto. YourRAGE announced his return at the Streamer Awards in December 2024. Nickmercs said in November 2024 that “moving forward, we will be primarily on Twitch,” per Dexerto. Adin Ross said in November 2025 there was “no point of doing big streams on KICK” and moved those to Twitch, while keeping Kick for game nights and gambling, per Dexerto. Others never fully left Twitch: Cloakzy, Kaysan and Stable Ronaldo stream on both, with Twitch as home.
Our read
Ames Create does not work with Kick. This is our view, from a team that works on creator brands for a living.
The format. Kick looks like Twitch and runs on a different deal. The pitch to streamers has always been money: a 95 percent subscription share for everyone and guaranteed contracts for the names that move audiences. What grew on it are the formats where the stream itself is the product, IRL days out, reaction and video-chat streams, wagers and slots, built around streamers who often arrived after trouble elsewhere.
Why it travels. Most people see Kick through clips, not the site. Stunts, bans and celebrity guests get cut down and posted to TikTok, YouTube and X within the hour, and some streamers pay for it: [N3on](/who-is-n3on) told Business Insider he paid more than $1.4 million to 303 clippers in five weeks. The headlines travel too, from a Trump livestream to the Pormanove case. Twitch still has about twice the watch time, but Kick’s Spanish and Arabic language channels and its record third quarter of 2026 show the audience is real.
Brand fit. Inside Kick the sponsor world is casinos and social casinos: Stake.US in Cuffem’s bio, Gamdom in SteveWillDoIt’s, and slots categories that sit beside the rest of the site. Betting where legal, gaming, energy drinks and men’s apparel are the natural fit. Family and mainstream brands should do a brand-safety review first; the French investigation, Kick bans on two channels in our index and the gambling context all come with the room. Most creators here also post on YouTube and TikTok, so a brand can work with a Kick streamer without buying Kick placements.
