Our read
Ames Create does not work with Big John (BigJohnGolfs). This is our view, from a team that works on creator brands for a living.
The format. He plays the confident underdog. His videos are matches with stakes: calling out a college player, sandbagging a creator, playing a round hungover or against a couple, always with a bet or a dare attached. The backwards putter is the kind of prop that tells a viewer in one frame that this is not a normal round.
Why it travels. Most of his reach is short form, about 850,000 on Instagram and 600,000 on TikTok against about 125,000 on YouTube, and his biggest reel is a corn dog, not a golf shot. The Internet Invitational changed the scale: a single putt on the Bob Does Sports channel drew nearly 3 million views by the next day, with a ready-made story: the last-minute invite Dave Portnoy said he did not like.
Brand fit. Golf apparel, putters and training gear, drinks and game-day products aimed at young male golfers who watch Bob Does Sports and Barstool. His Linktree already carries a Sunday Swagger code, and a 2025 video description linked Boxx Products. Brands that want polished instruction are not the fit; brands that want a loud, likable underdog with a fresh spotlight are.
