Tavarish is the YouTube name of Freddy Hernandez, a car creator known for buying wrecked exotic cars and rebuilding them on camera, most famously a McLaren P1 flooded by Hurricane Ian. Hagerty reported in July 2024 that he paid $575,000 for the salvage P1 at a Copart auction, and that he works out of two shops in Central Florida with a three-person team. In July 2025 he added a fire-damaged Porsche 918 Spyder, and as of October 2026 neither car has been shown finished. His main channel, @tavarish, has about 3.14 million subscribers and 585 videos, and he posts more of the P1 work on a second channel, 2varish.

Questions people ask
Who is Tavarish?
Tavarish is a car YouTuber, real name Freddy Hernandez, who rebuilds flooded, burnt and abandoned supercars on camera. His channel About page says he makes videos about buying, modifying and breaking cars, and that he has opinions, “most of which are wrong.” Per a July 2024 Hagerty profile, he studied marketing, worked retail and in his father’s insurance agency, and wrote for Jalopnik before the channel took off around 2016, when he moved to fixing high-mileage and expensive-to-repair cars. Hagerty counted two 5,200-square-foot shops, two off-site storage units and a three-person team at the time.
What happened to Tavarish? Why is Tavarish not posting? Why has he stopped posting?
As of October 2026, Tavarish has not stopped posting, but his main channel went quiet for six months. Per the channel’s upload feed, he posted a 918 Spyder episode on September 25, 2025 and nothing else on @tavarish until Building A Homemade $2,500,000 McLaren P1 In 7 Days on March 27, 2026. His second channel, 2varish, kept posting through that stretch, including uploads on December 31, 2025 and January 21, 2026. He addressed the gap himself on The Iced Coffee Hour on January 25, 2026, in an episode whose chapters cover why he has not been posting, his monthly costs, channel finances and why the P1 is not finished. Since March 2026 he has posted about once a month on the main channel, most recently an Aventador rebuild on September 23, 2026.
What happened to Tavarish’s McLaren P1? Did he finish the P1 build?
As of October 2026, Tavarish’s flooded McLaren P1 has not been shown finished in any video or outlet we found. Car Throttle reported in April 2023 that he bought the car, flooded out of its owner’s garage by Hurricane Ian, for $575,000, against an estimated pre-flood value close to $2 million. In June 2025 duPont Registry reported that former McLaren design director Frank Stephenson had joined the project with LT-style body designs, around a reworked engine rated at 1,400 hp, with the stated goal of the fastest McLaren ever. The main series reached Part 16 on June 19, 2025; since then the work has moved to 2varish, with a carbon fiber body in May 2026 and the 1,400 hp engine build on October 8, 2026. The March 2026 “homemade” P1 video is a separate build: its description says he and partners The Car Council and Cannonball Garage built a brand new P1 from scratch.
What happened to Tavarish’s 918 Spyder?
As of October 2026, Tavarish’s fire-damaged Porsche 918 Spyder is still a rebuild in progress, with no finished car shown. He introduced it on July 3, 2025 in I Bought A Fire-Damaged $2,000,000 Porsche 918 Spyder, whose description calls it a 2015 car that had sat abandoned for more than a decade outside the US and first had to be imported. On August 31, 2025 he took apart its $250,000 engine, and on September 25, 2025 he posted Porsche Said That Rebuilding My Burnt 918 Spyder Was Impossible, launching “Poorsche” parody shirts with a piece of the car for the first 1,000 orders. He also broke down what Porsche charged for the rebuild on 2varish on July 22, 2025. No new 918 episode has appeared on the main channel since September 2025.
What happened to Tavarish and Jack? Why did Jack leave Tavarish?
As of October 2026, Jack, who worked on Tavarish’s builds, runs his own channel, Jack Builds It. Hagerty described Jack in July 2024 as Tavarish’s in-house body-work specialist, and on July 28, 2024 Jack posted Why Im Going Away From The Tavarish Channel? on his own channel; its description says it explains what is going on and his plans for a project. As of October 2026 Jack Builds It has about 304,000 subscribers and builds cars in Central Florida, most recently a Toyota Supra finished on October 17, 2026. We found no report of a falling out between them in an accepted outlet.
Why did Tavarish get divorced?
Tavarish talked about his divorce on The Iced Coffee Hour on September 1, 2024, in an episode whose title names it. We found no accepted outlet that reported the reasons, so we do not give any, and we do not name his former spouse, who is not a public figure.
What does Tavarish mean?
Tavarish is a romanized form of the Russian word for “comrade” or “friend,” per Hagerty. He explained where the name came from himself on The Iced Coffee Hour in September 2024, in a chapter on growing up in Russia and the origin of his channel name.
What is Tavarish’s real name? How old is Tavarish?
Tavarish’s real name is Freddy Hernandez, as printed by Hagerty and duPont Registry and credited on his Tubi series. He is 39, born January 10, 1987, per Famous Birthdays.
Where is Tavarish from?
Tavarish was born in Russia, moved with his family to New Jersey at about age 3, and is now based in Central Florida, about an hour north of Orlando, per Hagerty. His first car, a 1998 Nissan Maxima, was the subject of his first upload in 2006, and he bought it back for $1,000 in June 2025.
Where can I watch Tavarish?
Tavarish’s main rebuild series are on YouTube @tavarish, with more McLaren P1, 918 and side-project videos on 2varish. Tubi carries a Tavarish series from 2023 that follows the P1 rebuild, and he posts on Instagram @therealtavarish. He also appears on other car channels, like VINwiki’s project update of August 21, 2026.
What is Tavarish’s net worth?
Tavarish does not publish a number and neither do we.
Does Tavarish have a girlfriend now? Who is he dating?
Not something we cover.
Who represents Tavarish?
As of October 2026, no agency or manager is named publicly for Tavarish; his video descriptions list a Gmail address for business inquiries. Ames Create does not represent him; we cover him because people keep asking what happened to the flooded P1 and his posting schedule, and the answers are scattered across two channels and a few podcasts. If that changes, this entry will say so.
Our read
Ames Create does not work with Tavarish. This is our view, from a team that works on creator brands for a living.
The format. The hook is a car that should be scrap: flooded, burnt, abandoned or declared unfixable by the factory, bought for a fraction of its value. Each episode is one problem at a time, with dealer quotes, parts hunts and a small crew, and the long series like the P1 run for years.
Why it travels. Dollar figures in the titles do the work, a $2,000,000 car or a $250,000 engine, and the “they said it was impossible” framing gives every episode a bet to settle. Collaborations with other car channels, from VINwiki to Daily Driven Exotics, carry the builds well past his own roughly 3.14 million subscribers.
Brand fit. Motor oil, tools, lifts, shop equipment, car search sites and insurance, which is already who sponsors him (Valvoline, AutoTempest, Bendpak). Long builds suit brands willing to sit through a series rather than buy one video.
