Questions people ask

Who is Cousin Jay?

Cousin Jay is a content creator known for his work with the Nelk Boys, filming and appearing in their prank videos, most often alongside Salim the Dream. Famous Birthdays describes him as known for camera work in comedic prank videos and notes his collaborations with Salim. The podcast Money Buys Happiness introduced him in February 2025 as a behind-the-scenes creative at Nelk and Full Send, in an episode titled “He Was Never Just Nelk’s Cameraman.” He now posts vlogs and street-interview Shorts on his own channel.

Did Cousin Jay leave Nelk? Why did he leave, and what happened?

As of October 2026, Cousin Jay has not announced a departure from Nelk in any press report we found, and Nelk has not announced one either; we found no accepted news outlet covering it. What is public comes from his own channel and podcast notes. In February 2025, the Money Buys Happiness episode notes said he would explain the truth about his role in Full Send and “why he’s branching out on his own.” In July 2025, The Michael Sartain Podcast described him as running a streaming content house in Miami and rebranding his channel as Real Cousin Jay. On October 16, 2025 he uploaded a seven-minute video titled “WHY I LEFT ?” The title does not say what he left and we have not verified what he says in it, so we do not characterize it.

Is Cousin Jay still with Nelk? Does he still work for Nelk?

As of October 2026, Cousin Jay’s public work runs through his own accounts rather than Nelk’s, but no formal exit has been announced. Podcast hosts in 2025 still introduced him through Nelk: The Journey Podcast’s January 2025 episode notes call him known for his time with Nelk and Salim, and cover his move from joining Nelk to launching his own YouTube channel. The newest Short on his channel as of October 25, 2026 is titled “Kyle from Nelk runs into cousin jay,” a reference to Nelk co-founder Kyle Forgeard. If he or Nelk states his status on the record, this entry will say so.

Did Cousin Jay get kicked out of Nelk?

As of October 2026, we found no statement from Nelk or from Cousin Jay, and no report in any accepted news outlet, saying that Nelk removed him. Claims that he was kicked out circulate on social media and Reddit without an outlet behind them, so we do not repeat them. His own framing, in his October 2025 video title and his February 2025 podcast notes, is that he left and branched out on his own.

What happened between Cousin Jay and Salim?

As of October 2026, there is no public falling out between Cousin Jay and Salim the Dream on the record that we could find. The two worked together for years: Salim’s channel posted a March 2023 sit-down, “Salim and Jay on the Success of NELK,” and Jay talked about his friendship with Salim on Money Buys Happiness in February 2025. What changed is that Salim’s own channel went quiet after October 2023 and he moved to Full Send Golf (see his entry), while Jay went on to his own channel, so they are no longer seen together as often.

Is Cousin Jay from Nelk the same Cousin Jay from Cake Boss?

No, Cousin Jay of the Nelk Boys has no connection to Cake Boss, the TLC bakery series, that we could find. This entry is about the Nelk creator from Sacramento who posts as @realcousinjay and @COUSINJAYLIVE.

What is Cousin Jay doing now? Where is he now?

As of October 2026, Cousin Jay is making his own content: vlogs and street-interview Shorts on YouTube @COUSINJAYLIVE, plus clips on TikTok and Instagram. In July 2025 The Michael Sartain Podcast described him as founder of the Dream Squad, leading a streaming content house in Miami, and listed his plans for music and DJing, a book and a weekly podcast. The same notes cover a demonetization and a channel reset that led to the Real Cousin Jay rebrand.

How old is Cousin Jay? What is his real name?

Cousin Jay is 26, born February 8, 2000, and his real name is Jordan Nwanne, both per Famous Birthdays. On his channels he goes by Cousin Jay and, since his 2025 rebrand, Real Cousin Jay.

Where is Cousin Jay from?

Cousin Jay is from Sacramento, California. Famous Birthdays lists Sacramento as his birthplace, and the July 2025 Michael Sartain Podcast episode opens with him growing up there and playing high school football. The Journey Podcast’s episode notes say he moved to Los Angeles and slept in his car before joining Nelk.

Where can I watch Cousin Jay?

Cousin Jay posts vlogs and Shorts on YouTube @COUSINJAYLIVE, and clips on TikTok @realcousinjay and Instagram @realcousinjay; his YouTube description points to Snapchat @realcousinjay for everything outside his vlogs. His older Nelk-era work is on Nelk channels and on SalimTheDream.

What is Cousin Jay’s net worth?

Cousin Jay does not publish a number and neither do we.

What about Cousin Jay’s girlfriend, Reddit rumors or personal struggles?

Not something we cover.

Who represents Cousin Jay?

As of October 2026, no agency or manager is named publicly for Cousin Jay that we could find. Ames Create does not represent him; we cover him because people keep asking whether he left Nelk, and the honest answer is spread across his own uploads and podcast notes. If that changes, this entry will say so.

Our read

Ames Create does not work with Cousin Jay. This is our view, from a team that works on creator brands for a living.

The format. He started behind the camera, which shows: his own videos are quick street encounters shot on the move, a stranger, a line, a reaction, with the Nelk-era instinct for the moment that turns. On podcasts he plays the opposite role, the quieter guy explaining what the prank years looked like from behind the lens.

Why it travels. Short street clips with a clear setup travel on TikTok and Shorts, and his recent Shorts show roughly 24,000 to 54,000 views each as of October 2026. The Nelk name still does the heavy lifting for search: a single Short titled with Kyle from Nelk, and a video called WHY I LEFT ?, keep sending people back to ask what happened.

Brand fit. Nightlife, music and festival brands, streetwear, and creator tools for phone-only shooters, which he talked about on Sartain’s show. His Nelk-era catalog leans on adult prank themes, so family brands are not a fit. With about 159,000 Instagram followers he is a mid-size partner, best for brands that want someone who can also shoot the content.
