Hans Kim is a stand-up comedian in Austin, Texas, known for flat, tightly written one-liners and for answering every question in a Kill Tony interview a little too honestly. Host Tony Hinchcliffe made him a regular in May 2021, when he was living in a van and doing open mics, and he opened the show most weeks for the next two and a half years. He twice beat golden ticket winner Ric Diez in on-air battles for that spot and was inducted into the show’s Hall of Fame in May 2024, alongside William Montgomery and David Lucas. Since then he has appeared only now and then, and Hinchcliffe has introduced him as a former weekly regular. He headlines clubs, tours with the Killers of Kill Tony and streams the Hans Kim Podcast from Austin.

Questions people ask
Who is Hans Kim?
Hans Kim is an Austin-based stand-up comedian who writes short, dry one-liners. Famous Birthdays lists him as a performer from Seattle, and he told the Coachella Valley Independent he had been doing comedy for 10 years before Kill Tony. He became a regular on the show in May 2021, was inducted into its Hall of Fame in May 2024, and has opened for Joe Rogan and Tony Hinchcliffe, according to his site. He now headlines comedy clubs on his own.
What happened to Hans Kim on Kill Tony?
A two-part battle for his job. On the New Year’s Eve arena show recorded December 31, 2023 (#648), golden ticket winner Ric Diez put his ticket on the line against Kim’s spot as a regular. Guests Shane Gillis and Matt McCusker picked Diez, the crowd vote went to Kim, and Kim kept the spot. The result was argued over online, and Hinchcliffe later said on the show that deciding it by audience vote alone was “very controversial.” The rematch was recorded May 10, 2024 at the Forum in Los Angeles (#666), with the guests, the hosts and a decibel meter all counted. Kim won again, said “somehow I feel like the internet will still make this controversial,” and was inducted into the Kill Tony Hall of Fame the same night.
Why is Hans Kim not a regular on Kill Tony anymore?
Neither he nor the show has announced a reason, and we found no statement from either one saying he was removed. What is public: in an episode recorded February 5, 2024 (#652), Hinchcliffe gave him a break from weekly sets to prepare for the rematch and introduced Casey Rocket to open the show in his place. Kim said he would “recharge” and “come back better than ever.” When he won that May he was announced as still a regular, but his sets became occasional. In an episode recorded February 17, 2025 (#708), Hinchcliffe said Kim “is always busy on the road nowadays.” The next episode (#709) introduced him as a Hall of Famer and “former regular,” and one recorded in July 2025 (#730) as a “former weekly regular.” His own site still describes him as a regular on Kill Tony.
Is Hans Kim still on Kill Tony?
Yes, as an occasional guest set, not every week. In 2026 he has done new minutes on #754 (recorded January 26), #761 in Houston (recorded February 28) and #773 (recorded June 15), where Hinchcliffe brought him out as “one of the greatest regulars ever.” The show’s posted cast lists carried his name through #767 in May 2026 and have not since. On the episode recorded August 24, 2026 (#783), Hinchcliffe referred to him as a “former regular of the show, Hall of Famer.”
Is Hans Kim still doing comedy? Is he on tour?
Yes. His site lists club weekends through the end of 2026: New Westminster, British Columbia (October 2 and 3), Tulsa (October 8 and 9), Oklahoma City (October 10 and 11), Waterford, Michigan (November 6 and 7) and Tacoma, Washington (December 17 to 19). He is also part of the rotating Killers of Kill Tony tour with William Montgomery and David Lucas, which he described to the Coachella Valley Independent in September 2026 as “like the show is coming to you,” and his site lists him on the Tuesday Kill Tony Regular show in Austin.
Is Hans Kim funny?
That is a matter of taste, so here is what is on the record. Kill Tony audiences sided with him in both battles for his spot, and Hinchcliffe calls him one of the best regulars and best interviews the show has had. On an episode recorded in Las Vegas in September 2024, Harland Williams told younger comics to study how carefully Kim writes his jokes. On the other side, Shane Gillis and Matt McCusker picked his opponent in the first battle, and a lot of his material is written to make part of the room uncomfortable. His jokes are short, so one clip will tell you where you land.
What are the Hans Kim allegations?
We found no major or trade press report of allegations against Hans Kim, and we do not repeat forum claims. The controversy that did reach the press was a joke. In November 2023, about a month after Matthew Perry died, Kim posted a stand-up clip joking about the actor’s death. Rolling Stone Brasil reported on November 24, 2023 that the reaction was negative and that Kim answered with a mock apology telling the people he offended to grow thicker skin.
How old is Hans Kim? What is his real name?
Neither is published in a way we can cite. Famous Birthdays lists his birthday as May 31 with no year, so we do not print an age. He performs as Hans Kim on every platform and on his own site, and no other name has been published.
Is DJ Hans Kim the same person as the comedian Hans Kim?
Yes, it is the same person. DJ Hans Kim is the comedian’s handle: his site links to @djhanskim on Instagram, TikTok and YouTube, where the channel is simply called Hans Kim, and to @DJHansKim on X. He has not explained the DJ on the record that we found, and the bio on his site says nothing about DJing, so we do not call him one.
Where can I watch Hans Kim?
Instagram @djhanskim is his largest account. YouTube @djhanskim carries the Hans Kim Podcast, a live conversation show streamed from Austin, plus clips of his Kill Tony sets. He is also on TikTok @djhanskim, X @DJHansKim and Patreon. Full Kill Tony episodes are on the show’s own channel and podcast feed.
What is Hans Kim’s net worth?
He does not publish a number and neither do we.
Who is Hans Kim’s girlfriend? Is Hans Kim Korean?
Not something we cover.
Who represents Hans Kim?
His site lists a contact email for booking and names no agency or manager. Ames Create does not represent him; we cover him because he turned one new minute a week into a headlining career, and people keep asking where he went. If that changes, this entry will say so.
Our read
Ames Create does not work with Hans Kim. This is our view, from a team that works on creator brands for a living.
The format. One-liners, written tight and delivered flat, followed by an interview where he answers whatever he is asked. The jokes are the craft and the interview is the character. Kill Tony gave him a weekly deadline, and a new minute every week for two and a half years is a lot of reps.
Why it travels. A one-liner is already a clip: nothing to trim and no context needed. The battles added a storyline that people argued about for months, and the argument travelled further than the jokes did. That is why the search is “what happened” and not “tour dates.”
Brand fit. Honest answer: narrow. The material is offensive on purpose, and the Matthew Perry clip shows how it can land outside the room, so most consumer brands should pass. The fits are the ones already around that audience: comedy clubs and ticketing, podcast and live-stream tools, and sponsors that already buy the Kill Tony crowd.
