David Lucas is a stand-up comedian and roast comic from Macon, Georgia, now based in Austin, Texas. He is best known for his years as a weekly regular on Kill Tony, where the set was a new minute of jokes and the main event was the exchange of insults with host Tony Hinchcliffe afterward. The show’s notes credit him from October 2019, next to William Montgomery and later Hans Kim, until he retired from the weekly lineup at the 10-year anniversary show in June 2023; he was inducted into its Hall of Fame that New Year’s Eve and still drops in. In early 2024 a joke about George Floyd at a Kansas City club drew walkouts and national coverage, and he declined to apologize for the joke. He tours, hosts Fishing with David Lucas on his YouTube channel, which has about 491,000 subscribers, and released a special that year titled Uncancellable.

Questions people ask

Who is David Lucas?

David Lucas is a stand-up comedian from Macon, Georgia. His own bio says he started in stage plays at the Macon Little Theatre, moved to Hollywood, was a contestant on MTV’s Yo Momma and has written for several television shows; Fox News describes him as starting out as a roast comic on that show in the 2000s. He became a weekly regular on Kill Tony in October 2019, co-hosted the Brothers in Cursive podcast with William Montgomery, and is one of the few members of the show’s Hall of Fame. Today he headlines his own tour, hosts the interview show Fishing with David Lucas and has a supporting role in the 2026 film Run Hide Fight: Infidels.

What happened to David Lucas on Kill Tony?

He retired from the weekly lineup and went on the road. The show’s episode notes first credit him on #399, recorded October 14, 2019, and then nearly every week through June 2023; they list him on 146 numbered episodes in all. At the 10-year anniversary show (#616, recorded June 10, 2023, in front of about 3,000 people), Tony Hinchcliffe told the crowd it was “officially his full-time retirement party.” On the New Year’s Eve arena show recorded December 31, 2023 (#648), Hinchcliffe inducted him as the third member of the Kill Tony Hall of Fame, and Lucas thanked “the Kill Tony family for supporting me.” He has kept coming back as a drop-in since, which the next two questions cover.

Why did David Lucas leave Kill Tony? Did he retire?

The reason given on the show was touring. At the anniversary taping Lucas said he had been “doing the road,” and Hinchcliffe told the audience: “David’s so busy on the road that he gets to do a spot on Kill Tony anytime he wants in the future.” Two episodes later (#618, recorded June 19, 2023), Hinchcliffe described it as retiring “from being a full-time regular,” with a standing invitation to do a new minute whenever he wants, and introduced Kam Patterson as the comic who took over the weekly spot. So he retired from the weekly job, not from comedy: his tour page lists club dates through December 2026. On timing, his widely clipped roast exchange with Harland Williams at the YouTube Theater (#667, recorded May 12, 2024) came 11 months after the retirement, and when the two met again in 2026 Hinchcliffe billed it as “one of the greatest roast rivalries” of the show.

Why is David Lucas not on Kill Tony anymore? Was he removed or muted?

Neither he nor the show has said he was removed, and we found no statement or press report about him being muted, so we do not guess at either. What is public: he gave up the weekly spot in June 2023 and has appeared as a drop-in or guest since. That includes the YouTube Theater show (recorded May 12, 2024), the New Year’s Eve arena show (#706, December 31, 2024), a surprise set in Nashville (#715, April 4, 2025), a full episode as the guest on the panel (#723, recorded May 28, 2025) and the Intuit Dome show in Los Angeles (#780, recorded May 7, 2026). His own channel posted two more returns, one around the end of 2025 and one in spring 2026, and the show’s notes list him in the cast of a Behind the Tape episode recorded August 3, 2026.

Why did David Lucas get cancelled?

Over a joke about George Floyd. In early January 2024, at the Funny Bone in Kansas City, he was trading insults with a heckler and made jokes about Floyd’s death; some audience members walked out, according to Atlanta Black Star and Revolt. He posted the set on his own YouTube channel that February, which is when NewsOne and others covered it. His response came in three parts: an Instagram caption saying that getting canceled “ain’t that bad”; a video in which he said he had spoken with members of Floyd’s family and that his intention “was to never cause harm” to them, adding, per Atlanta Black Star, “I apologized to the family, not about the joke”; and a February 17, 2024 interview on Willie D Live, where he said “I don’t apologize for doing the joke” and called himself a troll and an advocate for free speech. He kept touring and later that year released a half-hour YouTube special titled Uncancellable.

How old is David Lucas? What is his real name?

His age is not published in a way we can cite. He has not posted a birthdate, and Famous Birthdays has no page for him; its David Lucas pages are a composer and a soccer player. He performs as David Lucas, his own bio uses that name, and no other name has been published.

Is this the David Lucas who played football, or the Georgia state senator?

No. This entry is about the American stand-up comedian from Kill Tony. Wikipedia lists several other people with the name, including an English footballer born in 1977 and a Georgia state senator born in 1950. They are different people.

Where can I watch David Lucas? Is he in a movie?

His YouTube channel, @DavidLucasComedian, is the hub: stand-up and crowd work clips, his Kill Tony sets and Fishing with David Lucas, an interview show filmed outdoors with guests like Ron White, Kam Patterson and Brian Redban. His half-hour special Uncancellable: Live From The Comedy Mothership came out on YouTube in 2024. He is on Instagram and TikTok as @davidlucasfunny and on X as @funnydavidlucas. The movie is Run Hide Fight: Infidels, a Daily Wire film with a September 16, 2026 release date, per The Playlist: Deadline reported his casting in March and Film Threat lists him as Terrence, a campus security guard. For live dates, his tour page currently lists the Hollywood Improv (October 29), the Brooklyn Improv (November 4) and Bakersfield (December 18 and 19), and he appears on Killers of Kill Tony bills with William Montgomery and Hans Kim.

What is David Lucas’s net worth?

He does not publish a number and neither do we.

What about David Lucas’s face, his health or his family?

Not something we cover.

Who represents David Lucas?

Deadline listed him as repped by IAG and Underground when it reported his film casting in March 2026, and his site lists a contact email. Ames Create does not represent him; we cover him because he turned a weekly roast of the host into a touring career, and people keep asking where he went. If that changes, this entry will say so.

Our read

Ames Create does not work with David Lucas. This is our view, from a team that works on creator brands for a living.

The format. A minute of new jokes, then the real act: he turns on whoever is holding the other microphone. On Kill Tony that was Tony Hinchcliffe, most weeks for almost four years, and Hinchcliffe has said on air that the two set the record for roasting each other. It works because the insults are fast, specific and aimed up at the host, so the room is with him before the punchline lands.

Why it travels. A roast exchange is a clip with a winner and a loser, which is about the easiest thing online to pass along. His channel is built on that: the Kill Tony exchanges first, then crowd work from the road, where his most viewed long video is an audience member who tried to roast him first. The same instinct produced the Kansas City clip, his second most viewed long video and the reason the search is “cancelled.”

Brand fit. Honest answer: narrow. He calls himself a troll, the Kansas City set drew walkouts and national coverage, and [Slate](https://slate.com/culture/2025/08/kill-tony-hinchcliffe-austin-texas-comedy-trump.html) wrote that his special opens with an extended riff about beating women. Most consumer brands should pass. The fits are the ones already around this audience: comedy clubs and ticketing, sponsors that already buy the Kill Tony crowd, and, because of the fishing show, outdoor and tackle brands that are comfortable with the material around the ad read.
