Fred the Bodyguard

UK close protection worker who guards street-filming YouTubers like Tyler Oliveira and Kurt Caz, and breaks down real confrontations from a bodyguard’s point of view on his own channel, Cultured Thug.

Lifestyle · YouTube · Updated Oct 9, 2026

Fred the Bodyguard is a UK-based close protection worker, in his own words a “Hostile Environment Close Protection Operative,” who became known in 2025 as the large, calm man walking next to street-filming YouTubers: Charles Veitch in Manchester and Sheffield, then Tyler Oliveira and Kurt Caz on their scammer and pickpocket trips through Europe. In September 2025 he started his own channel, Cultured Thug, where he breaks down street confrontations from a bodyguard’s point of view; its first episode has passed 5.8 million views. The channel has about 365,000 subscribers on YouTube, he posts on X as @Fred_cpo, and he sells training wear under the Cultured Thug name.

Questions people ask

Who is Fred the Bodyguard?

Fred the Bodyguard is a UK security worker who protects YouTubers while they film confrontations in city streets, and who now runs his own channel about it. He first showed up as Charles Veitch’s bodyguard in Veitch’s 2025 videos from Manchester and Sheffield, then worked for Tyler Oliveira, whose October 2025 Barcelona video (about 13 million views) shouts him out as one of “my bodyguards,” and for Kurt Caz in Italy in February 2026. His own channel, Cultured Thug, launched in September 2025 with videos he describes as real situations looked at “from the perspective of a CPO/bodyguard in the UK & Europe.”

What happened to Fred the Bodyguard?

Nothing that took him offline: his channel posted a new video on September 28, 2026. The searches usually trace to three things from the past year. In May 2026 he posted a video about a pickpocket attacking him while he worked with Tyler Oliveira in London. By his own account in an August 2026 interview on The Dozen with Liam Tuffs, he lost his SIA badge, the UK licence needed to work in security, after a confrontation at a protest (more on that below). And he has moved from guarding other people’s videos to making his own: Milan with Tyler Oliveira in June 2026, Hamburg, and a run of breakdown episodes since.

What is the Fred the Bodyguard controversy?

One thing is on the record, from him rather than from press: the notes for his August 9, 2026 interview with Liam Tuffs say his SIA badge was taken away after a confrontation at a protest, and the episode has a chapter where he explains it. We found no major press coverage of it, so we add nothing beyond what he has said. More broadly, his work involves physical confrontations with scammers and pickpockets; Tyler Oliveira’s October 2025 video notes describe his bodyguards as using “proportional force” in self-defence.

Who does Fred the Bodyguard work for?

He works for himself and for YouTubers who film in rough parts of cities. On the record: Charles Veitch, who named him in a Sheffield video in August 2025; Dutch Travel Maniac, in Birmingham in November 2025; Tyler Oliveira, in Barcelona, London and Milan; and Kurt Caz, in Italy in February 2026 and on a trip Fred posted himself. He has also described working the doors at clubs in Manchester.

What is Fred the Bodyguard’s background? Is he ex-military, and was he in a band?

What he has said: before close protection he worked club doors in Manchester, per the notes of a December 2025 conversation on his channel, and his channel bio calls him a “Hostile Environment Close Protection Operative.” A February 2026 interview on The Jolly Heretic walks through his school years, a chapter titled “adulthood and music,” martial arts, street fighting and finding a career in security. We found no statement from him or from press that he served in the military, so we do not say he did. The music chapter is the closest public reference to a band that we found; we could not source a band name.

Is Fred the Bodyguard a fighter? What martial arts does he do?

He trains for self-defence rather than sport. In his first episode he says combative training “isn’t MMA. It’s about surviving the situation, not winning it.” His Fight to Survive series, from October 2025, trains with combatives instructor Julien Masson and, in a later episode, PFL bantamweight Lewis McGrillen. The notes for his August 2026 Liam Tuffs interview include stories from season 4 of the Ultimate Self-Defense Championships. We found no professional fight record for him.

Where is Fred the Bodyguard from?

He is UK-based: his X profile carries a UK flag and gives its location as the UK, and he has described working doors in Manchester. He has not published a birthplace or hometown that we could source.

How old is Fred the Bodyguard? What is his real name?

He has not published a birthdate, so we do not list an age. He goes by Fred, and his X account uses the name Frederick; no surname has been published by him or by major press.

Where can I watch Fred the Bodyguard?

His own channel is Cultured Thug on YouTube, listed under the name Fred The Bodyguard, with about 35 videos. A separate, much smaller channel uses the handle @FredTheBodyguard; we could not connect it to him. He posts on X as @Fred_cpo and on Instagram as @fred_cpo, and sells gear at culturedthug.uk. He also appears in videos on the channels of Tyler Oliveira, Kurt Caz, Charles Veitch and Dutch Travel Maniac.

What is Fred the Bodyguard’s net worth?

Fred the Bodyguard does not publish a number and neither do we.

What about Fred the Bodyguard’s health, family or personal life?

Not something we cover.

Who represents Fred the Bodyguard?

His YouTube channel links his X and Instagram accounts and names no agency or manager. Ames Create does not represent him; we cover him because millions of people see him in other creators’ videos and then search who he is. If that changes, this entry will say so.

Our read

Ames Create does not work with Fred the Bodyguard. This is our view, from a team that works on creator brands for a living.

The format. Two formats on one channel: footage from his own jobs, and calm breakdowns of other people’s street confrontations where he explains what went wrong and what he would have done. The contrast is the hook. A very large man talking quietly about de-escalation over a clip of a fight is hard to scroll past.

Why it travels. Most people meet him inside someone else’s video. Tyler Oliveira’s Barcelona video alone sits around 13 million views and Kurt Caz’s Italy clip near 4 million, and clip channels recut his moments into Shorts. By the time a viewer reaches his channel they already know who he is, which is why his first episode passed 5.8 million views.

Brand fit. Nobody mainstream right now. The content runs on physical confrontations, by his own account he has lost the licence he worked under, and some recent uploads are protest commentary. Combat sports and self-defence gear are the natural fit, and he already sells his own. A brand in that lane should watch his last ten uploads before calling.
