He was first booked on second-degree murder, obstruction of justice and charges tied to a September 30 police chase in Abraham’s car, per NBC News. On January 16, 2025 a grand jury indicted him on first-degree murder, obstruction of justice, aggravated criminal damage to property and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, per WAFB. These are allegations, not findings. On October 8, 2025 the 19th Judicial District Court granted a defense motion for a competency hearing, per WAFB. A March 26, 2026 hearing was pushed to June because the doctors’ reports were not finished, per WAFB. On August 6, 2026 the court found him competent to stand trial, and the defense asked for a further evaluation of his sanity at the time of the alleged offense, with reports due October 5, 2026, per WBRZ. We found no published report of what happened at the October 5 deadline.
