He started Spittin’ Chiclets with Brian “Rear Admiral” McGonagle in 2016 and co-hosts it with Paul Bissonnette and Keith Yandle, per The Big Lead. In January 2025 he and his co-hosts bought into an ECHL expansion team in Greensboro, North Carolina, per Awful Announcing.
Is Ryan Whitney still on Spittin’ Chiclets? Did he leave Barstool?
Yes, he is still on it, and no, we found no report of him leaving Barstool. As of October 2026 the show’s podcast feed lists him as a host with Paul Bissonnette, Rear Admiral and producer Mike Grinnell, and it released episode 677, with Kirk Muller, on October 20, 2026. His X bio still calls him “1/4th of the @spittinchiclets podcast team.” The change in 2026 was where the video lives: Barstool signed a multi-year deal with Netflix in December 2025, per Netflix, and Chiclets video episodes have streamed there since January 12, 2026, per TheWrap. In July 2026 he was on Team Barstool on Celebrity Family Feud with Dave Portnoy, Rico Bosco, Kirk Minihane, Jersey Jerry and Stu Feiner, per Awful Announcing. One Barstool show did end: The Unnamed Show, which he co-hosted with Minihane and Portnoy, did not return, per Awful Announcing in October 2026.
Why did Ryan Whitney retire from hockey?
Injuries. He announced his retirement on September 20, 2015, in a statement on Twitter that opened “Today I am retiring from the game of hockey” and said his body had broken down sooner than he had hoped, per CBS Sports, which pointed to his ankles and feet. He had signed with MODO of the Swedish Hockey League for 2015-16 after a 2014-15 season with HC Sochi in the KHL. His last NHL games came with Florida in 2013-14, and his best season was 2006-07 in Pittsburgh, when he had 59 points.
Why did Ryan Whitney make Pink Whitney? What is the story?
It started as a joke on the show. On episode 112 of Spittin’ Chiclets in October 2018, during a read for sponsor New Amsterdam Vodka, he said his favorite drink was vodka with pink lemonade, per Front Office Sports. Fans posted their own versions, Paul Bissonnette pushed to turn it into a product, and Whitney asked “Who’s going to buy a drink with my name on it?”, per Forbes. New Amsterdam, an E. & J. Gallo brand, announced it on the August 7, 2019 episode with Sidney Crosby, per The Hustle, and it hit shelves in September 2019. Barstool CEO Erika Nardini told Forbes it sold more than a million bottles in six weeks, and The Hustle later put it past 15 million bottles.
Is Ryan Whitney related to Ray Whitney?
We found no report in major or trade press that they are related. What is public: Ray Whitney is a former NHL forward born in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta, per his NHL.com profile, and Ryan Whitney was born in Boston, per his. They share a last name and a league, nothing more that we could source.
Why is Ryan Whitney on a billboard in Buffalo?
Because he said the Sabres would not make the playoffs. In April 2026, after Buffalo won the Atlantic Division and ended a 14-year playoff drought, the team’s social staff put up billboards in Buffalo with his face and his old line, “Buffalo’s not making the playoffs. ….. 0.000%,” per The Big Lead. He reacted on Spittin’ Chiclets by calling the trolling incredible and admitting that when he predicts something, the opposite tends to happen.
Is this the actress Ryan Whitney?
No. This entry is about the former NHL defenseman and Spittin’ Chiclets host. He is not the actress Ryan Whitney Newman, who shows up in searches for the same name.
How old is Ryan Whitney? What is his real name?
He has not published a birth date in a source we use for ages, so we do not list one. He has always played and broadcast as Ryan Whitney, and no other name has been published by him or by major press.
Where is Ryan Whitney from?
Massachusetts. He was born in Boston, per his NHL.com profile, and played college hockey at Boston University before the Penguins drafted him fifth overall in 2002, per CBS Sports.
Where can I watch Ryan Whitney?
Spittin’ Chiclets video episodes stream on Netflix in the U.S. since January 2026, per TheWrap, and the audio is on all major podcast apps, including iHeart. The Spittin’ Chiclets YouTube channel still posts clips and its Game Notes series, and it carries Sandbagger, the golf series where he and Bissonnette play golf legends, per Daily Hive. Day to day he posts on X @ryanwhitney6.
What is Ryan Whitney’s net worth?
He does not publish a number and neither do we.
What about Ryan Whitney’s family and personal life?

Who represents Ryan Whitney?

Our read
Ames Create does not work with Ryan Whitney. This is our view, from a team that works on creator brands for a living.
The format. A hockey podcast run by former players who talk like they are still in the locker room: long interviews with current and retired players, twice-weekly NHL talk and a lot of ribbing. Whitney is the loud, often wrong prediction machine, and the show leans into that.
Why it travels. His misses travel as well as his takes. The Buffalo Sabres used one of his predictions against him in April 2026, and the clip came back to the show as content. Pink Whitney proved the same loop works for a product: a throwaway line in an ad read became a bottle on shelves within a year.
Brand fit. Beer, spirits, betting, golf and anything sold to hockey fans, the categories already around Chiclets. Pink Whitney carries his name for New Amsterdam, so a competing liquor brand would be a conflict. The tone is adult and unfiltered, so family brands are a harder fit.
