In May 2020 The Daily Beast reported on an email and texts he sent staff as editor-in-chief, and in October 2021 he sat down with Dave Portnoy on Portnoy’s own show to talk about his past year. As of October 2026, no outlet we accept has reported that he left or was fired, but we also could not find current work from him at Barstool.

Questions people ask
Who is Kmarko?
Kmarko is Keith Markovich, one of the earliest bloggers at Barstool Sports and the site’s editor-in-chief in 2020. A November 19, 2014 episode of KFC Radio, #MAILTIME: KMarko, billed him and Kevin “KFC” Clancy as “the original Barstool NY duo,” with Kmarko recalling how the two started Barstool NY. In September 2017 he told Awful Announcing, “Since I started working here 8 years ago our policy has been the same,” and by May 2020 The Daily Beast was describing him as Barstool’s editor-in-chief.
Is Kmarko still at Barstool? Did he leave Barstool, and does he still work there?
As of October 2026, Kmarko has not announced leaving Barstool, and no outlet we accept has reported that he left. That is not the same as confirming he is still there. What is public: the last firm record we could source of him working at Barstool is October 19, 2021, when he joined episode 55 of The Dave Portnoy Show to address, in the episode’s own description, “his past year with Dave.” As of October 25, 2026 we could not find him on Barstool’s current list of writers, while his X handle and his older Instagram, @kmarkobarstool, still carry the Barstool name. He also has a second Instagram, @kmarkonyc, under the same display name. If he or Barstool says more on the record, this entry will add it.
What happened to Kmarko at Barstool? Why was Kmarko fired?
Kmarko was not fired as far as any outlet we accept has reported; we found no report of a firing in major or trade press. The story people search starts in May 2020. The Daily Beast reported on May 7, 2020 that, as editor-in-chief, he emailed staff that the company was “hemorrhaging money” during the pandemic and sent texts, one of which used an ableist slur about a Barstool blogger. The emails and texts were read aloud in a heated on-air exchange with the four hosts of the SiriusXM show Barstool Chicago, the report said. We could not find an outlet we accept reporting whether or when his time as editor-in-chief ended, so we do not state one. What is on the record: in October 2021 he went on Portnoy’s show to talk through his past year with Portnoy.
Where is Kmarko now? What is Kmarko doing now?
As of October 2026, Kmarko has not announced a new job or show that we could source. His accounts are where to look: X @Kmarkobarstool, Instagram @kmarkobarstool, which has about 27,000 followers, and Instagram @kmarkonyc, with about 25,000. We could not find recent Barstool blogs or podcast episodes under his name, and no outlet we accept has reported where he works now.
What is Kmarko’s connection to KFC? Did they start Barstool NY together?
Yes, Kmarko and Kevin “KFC” Clancy started Barstool NY together, according to KFC Radio itself. The show’s November 19, 2014 episode, #MAILTIME: KMarko, describes a reunion of “the original Barstool NY duo,” with Kmarko recalling how he started Barstool NY with KFC. Clancy went on to host KFC Radio until it ended in December 2025; his story is in our entry on Kevin Clancy.
Was Kmarko one of the first Barstool employees?
Kmarko was one of Barstool’s earlier hires, by his own account starting around 2009. In September 2017, explaining why Barstool had pulled a post about a college athlete, he told Awful Announcing, “Since I started working here 8 years ago our policy has been the same,” meaning the site takes a post down when its subject asks. He said he moved that post to drafts himself and “went back to writing something else.”
How old is Kmarko?
Kmarko’s age is not published. We could not source a birthdate from him or from Famous Birthdays, so we do not list one, and we do not guess.
What is Kmarko’s real name?
Kmarko’s real name is Keith Markovich. It is the display name on his own Instagram, @kmarkobarstool, and The Daily Beast named Keith Markovich as Barstool’s editor-in-chief in May 2020.
Where can I watch or read Kmarko?
Kmarko posts on X as @Kmarkobarstool and on Instagram as @kmarkobarstool and @kmarkonyc. His October 2021 sit-down with Dave Portnoy is on Portnoy’s YouTube channel, and his 2014 KFC Radio appearance is listed on TheTVDB.
What is Kmarko’s net worth?
Kmarko does not publish a number and neither do we.
What about Kmarko’s wife or personal life?
Not something we cover.
Who represents Kmarko?
As of October 2026, no agent or manager is named publicly for Kmarko that we could find. Ames Create does not represent him; we cover him because people keep asking what happened to one of Barstool’s original bloggers, and the answer on the record is shorter than the rumors. If that changes, this entry will say so.
Our read
Ames Create does not work with Kmarko. This is our view, from a team that works on creator brands for a living.
The format. He was a writer and then an editor, not an on-camera host. His public footprint is blogs, a run as the person who assigned and approved other people’s posts, and guest spots on Barstool shows like KFC Radio and Portnoy’s podcast.
Why it travels. What travels is the Barstool backstory: an original Barstool NY blogger who rose to editor-in-chief and then went quiet. Each new Barstool departure story sends people back to search his name, which is why most of what turns up about him is old.
Brand fit. Nobody right now. He has no active show or posting schedule we could find, and his following is small next to Barstool’s on-air names. If he returns with a show, sports media and betting brands that already buy Barstool audiences would be the first to look.
