Wonton Don, who also goes by Donnie Does, is Barstool Sports’ “Foreign Correspondent.” His Barstool bio says he “woke up in Shanghai in 2012 and never looked back,” and his early videos were about odd jobs and nightlife in China; Barstool’s own YouTube was posting his Donnie Does videos by August 2017. Since then he has coached American football in Uganda with Billy Football, taken a group of fans to Istanbul in the series Baldstool, hiked the Grand Canyon with Biz Nasty in Peakin’, and co-hosted Drop A Pin, a weekly travel podcast, with Uncle Chaps since October 2024. As of October 2026 he is still at Barstool, and his YouTube channel has about 567,000 subscribers.

Questions people ask

Who is Wonton Don?

Wonton Don, also known as Donnie Does, is a travel creator and Barstool Sports’ self-styled foreign correspondent. His YouTube bio calls him a “cultural cosmonaut who travels the globe investigating anything that might make you say ‘Whoa, That’s Weird’” and, separately, “a world class crab rangoon chef.” He got his start filming a weekly web series in Shanghai in late 2012, which Boston Magazine wrote up in March 2013 as a Boston townie trying a new job in China each episode. Today he makes travel series on his own channel and co-hosts the podcast Drop A Pin.

Is Wonton Don still with Barstool?

Yes, as of October 2026. Drop A Pin Ep. 106 went out on Barstool’s own podcast feed on October 19, 2026, his Barstool bio is live with posts through May 2026, his X bio reads “Foreign Correspondent @barstoolsports,” and his YouTube channel was still posting Barstool-branded clips in mid-October 2026. We have seen no announcement that he is leaving.

What happened to the Wonton Don?

Nothing like an exit; the work changed shape. In order: he started filming in Shanghai in 2012, Barstool Sports’ YouTube was posting his Donnie Does videos by August 2017, and his own channel opened in January 2019. In February 2024 he released Last Chance Uganda, in which he and Billy Football coached Uganda’s American football team. Drop A Pin with Uncle Chaps started in October 2024, and Baldstool, a series that follows a group of fans on a trip to Turkey, ran its second season in May 2026. His latest long video, in September 2026, is a Havasupai hike with Biz Nasty in the series Peakin’. Fewer of his uploads are the old one-man Donnie Does episodes, which may be what people notice.

Why did Wonton Don live in China? Does he still live there?

He has told the story himself, in How I Ended Up in China, an episode of an old video podcast he uploaded in June 2021 that covers how he got there and his first year abroad. His Barstool bio puts the move in 2012. On Drop A Pin Ep. 65 (January 5, 2026) he went through the odd jobs he picked up in China “for content and to keep the lights on,” per the episode notes, including tutoring, teaching at a university and the gig in I Got Hired as a Fake Doctor In China. Recent episodes talk about Shanghai in the past tense (Ep. 105, October 12, 2026, is titled “Shanghai Used to Be Disney World for Adults”), and Ep. 95 recapped a year he spent living in Venice. His X profile still lists Shanghai. He has not said when or why he left China in anything we could source.

What is Wonton Don’s real name? Why is he called Wonton Don?

He goes by Donnie on camera and on Drop A Pin, and his first series ran as Donnie Does (his early YouTube channel was DonnieDoesIt). No surname has been published by him or by major press, so we do not list one. Barstool lists him as The Wonton Don, and his YouTube bio leans on the crab rangoon joke; he also hosted a cooking series called Gooned Up with the Wonton Don. We have not found him explaining where the nickname came from.

Who is Uncle Chaps to Wonton Don? What is Drop A Pin?

Uncle Chaps is a fellow Barstool personality and his co-host. Drop A Pin premiered on October 14, 2024 and had reached 106 episodes by October 19, 2026. Each week the two “Drop A Pin on a different spot around the globe and dive deep,” per the show’s own description, often with a guest who has been there, from a Syria episode with Sam Goodwin to Bhutan, Oaxaca and North Korea. The pair also turn up together in Barstool Chicago ranking videos.

How old is Wonton Don?

He has not published a birthdate, and Famous Birthdays has no page for him, so we do not list an age.

Where is Wonton Don from? Where did he go to college?

The Boston area of Massachusetts, going by Boston Magazine, which wrote up his first Shanghai series in 2013 as a Boston townie abroad. He has not named a town in anything we could source. He has not named a college either.

Who represents Wonton Don?

No manager or agent is listed on his channels or his Linktree; his work runs through Barstool Sports, and he takes personal video requests on Cameo. Ames Create does not represent him; we cover him because people keep asking whether he is still at Barstool and why he lived in China, and most of the answer is on the record. If that changes, this entry will say so.

Our read

Ames Create does not work with Wonton Don. This is our view, from a team that works on creator brands for a living.

The format. The format is one guy from Boston dropped somewhere unfamiliar, trying the local job, the local food or the local sport and narrating his own confusion. It started as a solo act in Shanghai and now runs as series with a partner (Billy Football in Uganda, Biz Nasty on the trails, a group of fans in Istanbul), which gives each trip a built-in plot.

Why it travels. Strange places travel well on their own, and the titles do the work: a fake doctor in China, a group trip with fans to Istanbul, a podcast recorded while hiking out of the Grand Canyon. Barstool partners pull their own audiences in, and the short clips on TikTok and YouTube Shorts cut each trip into dozens of shareable moments.

Brand fit. Travel, outdoor and hiking gear, luggage, airlines, apparel and food brands fit naturally, and his podcast already carries reads for apparel and sunglasses brands. A lot of the material is nightlife abroad, so family brands are a harder fit. Any deal runs through Barstool, so expect Barstool’s tone around it.
