Questions people ask

Who is Jared Carrabis?

Jared Carrabis is a Boston Red Sox and MLB podcaster who hosts Section 10, a Red Sox show, and Baseball Is Dead, a show about all of baseball. Per Famous Birthdays, he started writing about the Red Sox at 16 on a MySpace page called SoxSpace during the 2007 World Series, published a book, One Fan’s Story, in 2009, and got his first paid writing job with the New England Baseball Journal in 2012. He built his name at Barstool Sports starting in 2014, where Section 10 became, in the words of Awful Announcing, essential listening for Red Sox fans. His Section 10 co-hosts are Coley Mick, Steve Perrault and Tyler Milliken.

What happened to Jared Carrabis?

As of November 2026, Jared Carrabis is running his shows independently after three moves in four years. He left Barstool Sports for DraftKings in 2022, left DraftKings when his contract ended in February 2024, and moved to Underdog in March 2024, where he relaunched Section 10 with Coley Mick, per Awful Announcing, March 22, 2024. In March 2026 he said on a Baseball Is Dead stream that the Underdog partnership had ended and he had no signed deal, with nine people on staff (Awful Announcing, March 16, 2026). Section 10’s feed now lists its own company, Section 10 Production, as owner, and its October 1, 2026 season finale thanked fans for the show’s “first year of independence.” Both shows are still posting: Section 10 released “40-Man Crunch” on November 3, 2026, and Baseball Is Dead posted episode 500 on its YouTube channel in early November.

Why did Jared Carrabis leave Barstool? Is he still at Barstool?

Jared Carrabis left Barstool Sports in 2022 to join DraftKings, and as of November 2026 he does not work at Barstool. In May 2023 he said on the podcast Short and To The Point that he left to prove he could succeed without Barstool, that it bothered him when critics said he would be nothing without Dave Portnoy, and that “if you’re competitive or you want to be the best in the world at something, you have to take that leap,” per Awful Announcing, May 2, 2023. He also said he had been happy at Barstool and missed it. Portnoy answered in June 2023 on The Kirk Minihane Show that Carrabis left mainly for money and “really didn’t take a risk” (Awful Announcing, August 5, 2023). Leaving cost him the Section 10 name, so his Red Sox show at DraftKings became Name Redacted; he got the Section 10 name back in 2024 (Awful Announcing, March 16, 2026).

Why did Jared Carrabis leave DraftKings?

Jared Carrabis left DraftKings at the end of February 2024, when his contract expired, and he said the choice was his: “This was not a DraftKings decision. This was a me decision, which was a difficult decision,” he said on the Name Redacted Podcast, per Awful Announcing, February 29, 2024. He thanked the company, saying “DraftKings gave us the opportunity to stand on our own,” and did not give a fuller reason in anything we could source. DraftKings had announced him on April 6, 2022, with Baseball Is Dead and a Red Sox podcast. About three weeks after leaving, he announced he was joining Underdog.

Is Jared Carrabis still with Underdog?

No, as of November 2026 Jared Carrabis is not with Underdog: in March 2026 he said his partnership with Underdog Fantasy had ended and he was heading into the baseball season without a signed deal, per Awful Announcing, March 16, 2026. He called the split “a minor annoyance in the story of Section 10 and Baseball is Dead,” said he was talking with media companies and sportsbooks, ruled out a paywall, and said any deal had to work for his whole nine-person staff. Section 10’s feed carried Underdog promo codes through a March 2, 2026 bonus episode; after a short break the show returned on March 21, 2026 with an episode on “the future of the show,” and its later episodes carry sponsors such as Kalshi, Blue Moon and Nutrafol, plus a Patreon. He has not announced a new network deal in anything we could source.

Jared Carrabis drama and controversy: what happened with Dave Portnoy?

Jared Carrabis’s most covered drama is with Barstool founder Dave Portnoy, his former boss, in two public rounds. In June 2023 Portnoy answered Carrabis’s comments about leaving Barstool by saying he left mainly for money (Awful Announcing, August 5, 2023). In October 2025, after Portnoy complained that Spotify would not let Ryen Russillo take his podcast feeds to Barstool, Carrabis said Barstool had kept his Section 10 feeds when he left in 2022 and that Portnoy returned the Section 10 branding only when he moved from DraftKings to Underdog; Portnoy replied that Penn Entertainment, Barstool’s owner at the time, made the feed decision and that he had negotiated to give the branding back (Awful Announcing, October 14, 2025). We found no report of a firing or suspension in anything we could source.

Was Jared Carrabis sued?

Yes, Jared Carrabis was sued: on May 27, 2026, Law360 reported that a former producer filed a proposed class action in Massachusetts against Jared Carrabis and his production company, saying Carrabis used the end of a sponsorship deal to stop paying him and other staff on his podcasts at the end of February 2026. As of November 2026 we found no public response from Carrabis and no reported outcome; this entry will add either if one is published.

Who represents Jared Carrabis?

If that changes, this entry will say so.

Our read

Ames Create does not work with Jared Carrabis. This is our view, from a team that works on creator brands for a living.

The format. Two shows, one voice. Section 10 is four friends and one team, two to three hours after every series, carried by recurring bits like the Stop & Shop look ahead and the Klark’s Ketchup Series MVP. Baseball Is Dead widens the lens to the whole league, with live streams during big games and guests such as Ryan Howard and Scott Boras.

Why it travels. The audience follows him, not the company. Section 10 survived a forced rename at DraftKings, came back under its own name in 2024, and in its first independent year still held a Section 10 Night at Fenway Park, live shows and a Patreon. His own reach is about 127,000 on Instagram; most of the rest lives in the show feeds and their clips.

Brand fit. Boston and baseball brands first: beer, ticketing, apparel and the prediction market and betting sponsors his feeds already carry, from Blue Moon and SeatGeek to Kalshi. He has said any deal is judged on whether it works for his whole staff, so a brand buys the show package rather than a one-off read. The shows run loose and adult, so family brands are a stretch.
