Questions people ask
Who is Kirk Minihane?
Kirk Minihane is a Boston native who started out writing fantasy football columns for WEEI.com and became a co-host of the station’s morning show with Gerry Callahan, per a 2016 Forbes profile. The same profile notes WEEI suspended him for a week in July 2014 over on-air comments about Fox reporter Erin Andrews. In 2018 his on-air questions about Boston Globe columnist Kevin Cullen’s Marathon bombing accounts prompted a Globe review that ended in a three-month suspension for Cullen, per Awful Announcing. Since May 2019 he has worked for Barstool Sports, where he made The Kirk Minihane Show and The Case and sat in on The Unnamed Show with Dave Portnoy and Ryan Whitney.
What happened to Kirk Minihane? Is The Kirk Minihane Show over?
It ended, then came back. He stepped away from the show in mid November 2025 and announced on November 25, 2025, in an episode the feed titles “The Final Kirk Minihane Show,” that it was over, per Awful Announcing. He started easing back in 2026: the feed has a “Taking Calls” episode on January 27, 2026, and Awful Announcing reported he was set to take calls again on March 6, 2026. As of October 2026 the feed and YouTube channel post “KMS LIVE” episodes several times a month, the latest on October 14, 2026, and he has said he plans to return full time in January 2027 with a smaller cast.
Why did The Kirk Minihane Show end in 2025?
In his own words, he did not want to do it anymore. On the November 25, 2025 episode he said “We’re done. This is not a bit,” and “I just don’t want to do it,” per Awful Announcing, which noted the show had run daily on Barstool for about six and a half years. He said the split was not a feud with Dave Portnoy and that the two were “good,” and named The Case as his main Barstool project going forward, with weekly spots on The Unnamed Show. He had stepped away the week before; the personal reasons he gave for that break are not something we cover. The ending did not stick, as the answer above explains.
Is Kirk Minihane leaving Barstool? Why would he leave?
Possibly, by his own account. On his October 14, 2026 show he said his Barstool contract runs out in fall 2027, that he does not expect talks until February or March 2027, and “I would love to stay here, but I don’t think I’ll get re-signed,” per Awful Announcing. He also said cast members who run their own side shows will not be back on when the show returns in January 2027 unless they end them. He last signed a three-year extension in August 2023, per Barrett Media. His years at Barstool have included public fights with owner Dave Portnoy: Portnoy said in December 2024 that he had fired Kirk “for four minutes” before they talked it out (Barrett Media), and in May 2025 Kirk said on his show that he hated Portnoy after being left out of the Internet Invitational golf event (Awful Announcing). As of October 2026 neither side has announced an exit.
Why did Kirk Minihane leave WEEI?
He never went back on air after a leave. Kirk co-hosted WEEI’s morning show Kirk and Callahan with Gerry Callahan and went on leave in September 2018. In late October he said he was ready to work but was being kept off the air, and on November 15, 2018 Awful Announcing reported he would not return to WEEI and would move to Radio.com, run by WEEI’s parent company Entercom, for a national show. He said at the time he valued his years with Callahan despite their fights. He announced his Entercom exit in May 2019 and joined Barstool on May 30, 2019, per Awful Announcing.
What happened with Kirk Minihane and Jeff D. Lowe?
On the record, coworkers with a running trivia rivalry. Both are hosts of Barstool’s movie podcast Project Big Screen, whose feed description still names Jeff D Lowe and Kirk Minihane as of October 2026, and Kirk plays Jeff’s trivia show The Dozen with Team Minihane. The best known flare-up is a September 26, 2023 Barstool Radio episode, from a show hosted by Kevin Clancy, Feitelberg, Pat McAuliffe and Tommy Smokes, titled “Kirk Minihane Retires from The Dozen Over Jeff D Lowe’s Last Minute Rule Change,” with a note that he unretired within the hour. Kirk has not been named in Project Big Screen’s episode notes since June 9, 2026, and neither man has described a personal falling out in anything we could source. More in our entry on Jeff D. Lowe.
What happened between Kirk Minihane and Brianna Chickenfry?
A work dispute between two Barstool hosts, aired on their shows. In December 2024 Kirk called Brianna LaPaglia, known as Brianna Chickenfry, a fraud on his show over a change in her stated view of Taylor Swift; she contacted Dave Portnoy, who said on The Unnamed Show that he fired Kirk for four minutes before the two talked it through, per Barrett Media. In May 2025 she named Kirk her least favorite Barstool personality on a livestream for her podcast BFFs, and he answered on his show in harsh terms, per Awful Announcing. Kirk has said he offered to settle it on his show and she declined. We cover only the work side of this.
What is The Case podcast by Kirk Minihane?
His Barstool true crime series. Season 1 looked into a 1989 missing person case, and Season 2 looked into the 2021 death of a young woman in Canton, Massachusetts, first ruled a suicide; its finale aired in January 2023. On August 28, 2024 the FBI announced an arrest in her killing, and Awful Announcing wrote that the podcast had helped challenge the original ruling, while not crediting it with the arrest. Kirk said a third season was nearly finished; it has not been released. In November 2025 he called The Case his main focus at Barstool, per Awful Announcing.
How old is Kirk Minihane? What is his real name?
He has not published a birthdate that we could source, and Famous Birthdays has no page for him, so we do not list an age. Kirk Minihane is the name he has worked under at WEEI and Barstool, and no other name has been published by him or by major press.
What about Kirk Minihane’s family, health or personal life?
Not something we cover.
Where can I watch Kirk Minihane?
The Kirk Minihane Show posts full live episodes and clips on YouTube and audio on its Barstool feed, which also reaches Apple Podcasts and Spotify. The show account on X is @kirkminshow, and he posts as @kirkmin. His Project Big Screen episodes, through June 2026, are in that show’s feed.
What is Kirk Minihane’s net worth?
He does not publish a number and neither do we.
Who represents Kirk Minihane?
He works for Barstool Sports, and no agency or manager is named in the coverage or show pages we read. Ames Create does not represent him; we cover him because people keep asking what happened to his show and whether he is leaving Barstool, and the answer is on the record. If that changes, this entry will say so.
Our read
Ames Create does not work with Kirk Minihane. This is our view, from a team that works on creator brands for a living.
The format. A call-in talk show run like a sitcom: a rotating in-studio cast, running bits about the producer and staff, and Kirk reacting to Boston media and Barstool news. The cast is half the show, which is why his plan to trim it for January 2027 is a real format change and not housekeeping.
Why it travels. Conflict travels. His fights with Dave Portnoy, the Dozen rules dispute and the Brianna LaPaglia segments each became stories on other Barstool shows and in trade press, and the fan side shows that grew up around the program kept people talking between episodes. The Case reached listeners who never heard the talk show.
Brand fit. Honestly, wait. His contract runs out in fall 2027 and he has said he does not expect a renewal, so a deal now is a deal with a show whose home is unclear. Longer term the fits are New England brands, beer, golf and audio sponsors that already sit around true crime and sports talk. Family brands should pass, since the show is unfiltered and built on conflict.
