White Sox Dave is Dave Williams, a Barstool Sports blogger who joined the company part time in 2012 and has covered the Chicago White Sox, often furiously, from its Chicago office ever since, per his Barstool bio. He co-hosts The Stretch, the weekly Barstool Chicago show that started in 2017 as Red Line Radio, with Eddie, Chief and, most weeks in 2026, Big Cat. His best-known moment outside Barstool came on October 10, 2021, when he called John Cusack a bandwagon fan outside a White Sox playoff game, as Mediaite reported. As of October 13, 2026 he is still at Barstool, blogging the end of the White Sox’s 2026 playoff run.

Questions people ask

Who is White Sox Dave?

White Sox Dave is Dave Williams, a Barstool Sports blogger and podcaster based in the company’s Chicago office. His Barstool bio says he joined as a part-time blogger in 2012, calls him “Mayor of Scoop City,” and lists his rivals as the Cubs, Notre Dame, the Yankees and the Packers. He blogs mostly about the White Sox and Chicago sports, and co-hosts The Stretch, Barstool Chicago’s weekly show.

What happened to White Sox Dave? Is he still at Barstool?

Nothing has ended: as of October 13, 2026 he is still at Barstool Sports. His author page lists him in the Chicago office, he posted on October 13, 2026 about the White Sox offseason, and The Stretch released a new episode on October 12. What people may have noticed is a gap: his Barstool blog went quiet between January 21 and September 24, 2026. His return post opened “Blog Sox Dave is BACK. It’s been a minute,” and said he had been leaving the blogging to a colleague. He kept doing the podcast through that stretch. Since coming back he has blogged the White Sox’s 2026 playoff run, including a ticket mixup involving colleague Mintzy before a division series home game.

What happened between White Sox Dave and John Cusack?

On October 10, 2021, before the White Sox played Houston in the playoffs at Guaranteed Rate Field, he found the actor outside the ballpark and told him he was on his “banned bandwagon list,” per Mediaite and NBC Chicago. Cusack said he grew up going to both Chicago ballparks, pointed to his White Sox film Eight Men Out, and asked who the team’s first baseman was in 1983. Williams did not know (it was Mike Squires). The two ended with a fist bump, and hours later Cusack criticized him in a series of tweets. Red Line Radio had Mike Squires on for a sit-down with WSD nine days later, and The Stretch revisited “WSD vs John Cusack” on October 5, 2026.

What is White Sox Dave’s real name?

Dave Williams. His Barstool bio opens with “Dave ‘White Sox Dave’ Williams,” and Mediaite and NBC Chicago used the same name in October 2021. On air and on Barstool he goes by White Sox Dave or WSD.

What podcast is White Sox Dave on? What happened to Red Line Radio?

The Stretch, which is the same show under its third name. The feed starts on March 6, 2017 as Red Line Radio, and Dave has been on it since those years. After Barstool Carl announced in January 2023 that he was leaving for Arizona, the remaining hosts relaunched it as The Mid Show in February 2023, per Distractify. In September 2024 they announced a new, Bears-heavy format, and by early October 2024 it was The Stretch. The feed lists Eddie, Chief and White Sox Dave as hosts, and 2026 episodes regularly include Big Cat. Barstool colleagues drop in too: Marty Mush came on in July 2024 and took heat from WSD for wearing a Cubs jersey.

What was #MouseGate?

His Barstool bio lists #MouseGate among the internet trouble he is known for, next to the Cusack night and a time he arrived late for a stream and had to fly straight back to Chicago an hour after landing. Red Line Radio’s emergency episode “Machado & The Mouse” (February 20, 2019) describes it as the worst day of his life: he was “mousetrapped” by a colleague on the day of the Manny Machado signing news, and the crew talked him through it on air. The fuller story lives in that episode.

Does White Sox Dave work for the White Sox?

How old is White Sox Dave?

He has not published a birth date, so we do not list an age.

Where can I watch White Sox Dave?

His blogs are on his Barstool author page. The Stretch posts weekly on Apple Podcasts, Spotify and YouTube. He posts on X as @barstoolwsd and on Instagram as @whitesoxdave.

What is White Sox Dave’s net worth?

He does not publish a number and neither do we.

Who represents White Sox Dave?

Nothing public names an agent or manager. He works for Barstool Sports, and his author page links only his X and Instagram. Ames Create does not represent him; we cover him because people keep searching for what happened to him, and the answer is on the record. If that changes, this entry will say so.

Our read

Ames Create does not work with White Sox Dave. This is our view, from a team that works on creator brands for a living.

The format. He is the house sufferer: a South Side fan who writes and talks about the White Sox with the volume turned all the way up, whether they lose 121 games or make the playoffs. The Stretch puts that against a room of Cubs and Bears fans, so most segments are built-in arguments.

Why it travels. The bits travel because they have stakes: bets he loses and pays off on air, runs and throw-offs against coworkers, and confrontations like Cusack that outside press picks up. A Chicago crosstown argument needs no setup for anyone in the city.

Brand fit. Chicago-first brands that want sports fans: beer, bars, apparel, local car dealers and ticketing, which is roughly what The Stretch already carries. The blog is profane and picks fights by design, so family brands are not a fit.
