Joel Jimenez is a Los Angeles stand-up comedian and drummer known as Joelberg, the drummer in the Kill Tony house band through the show’s Los Angeles years. Per One West Magazine, he killed his first bucket-pull minute on the show in February 2016, joined the band that spring after band leader Pat Regan mentioned that Joel drummed in his side project, The Baby Boys, and got his nickname from a Tony Hinchcliffe joke in March 2017. The show’s episode notes credit him on nearly 300 episodes, from #156 (recorded May 9, 2016) to #486 (recorded December 14, 2020), the last taping before Kill Tony moved to Austin, and once since, on #605 in March 2023. As of October 2026 he is not in the Kill Tony band, he has not said publicly why, and he co-hosts the music podcast Lesser Known Characters with comedian Shapel Lacey.

Questions people ask
Who is Joel Jimenez?
Joel Jimenez is a Los Angeles stand-up comedian and drummer best known as Joelberg, the drummer in the Kill Tony house band from 2016 to 2020. His artist page at Ludwig, the drum maker that endorses him, says he started playing at 14 after his parents bought him a kit, has played in bands since high school and performs weekly at The World Famous Comedy Store. One West Magazine profiled him in July 2019 as the Ludwig drummer “killing the competition on Kill Tony,” and comedy podcasts describe him the same way: a comedian who also happens to be the band’s drummer.
Why did Joel Jimenez leave Kill Tony? What happened to Joel Jimenez on Kill Tony?
As of October 2026, Joel Jimenez has not said publicly why he stopped drumming on Kill Tony, and neither has the show; what is public is that his weekly run ended when Kill Tony left Los Angeles. The show’s episode notes credit him on nearly every episode from #156 (recorded May 9, 2016) to #486 (recorded December 14, 2020), the last Los Angeles taping, in a lineup with band leader Jeremiah Watkins, William Montgomery, David Lucas and Michael Lehrer. The show taped its first Austin episode on January 11, 2021, per Pollstar, and from #487 the notes list a different band, Jon Keyz, Michael Hale, Michael A. Gonzales and Jimmy Blazer, with neither Jimenez nor Watkins in it. In 2019 he told One West, “I’d love to do Kill Tony as long as humanly possible.” We do not guess at the rest.
Is Joel Jimenez still on Kill Tony? Did he move to Austin with the show?
No, as of October 2026 Joel Jimenez is not in the Kill Tony band or the weekly cast, and the latest episode that credits him is #605, recorded March 27, 2023. The episode notes list him on #605 as Joel Jiminez, next to his old band leader Jeremiah Watkins, and no later episode through #791 (October 2026) names him. He works out of Los Angeles: a February 15 show listing at The Punk Rock Museum in Las Vegas calls him a Los Angeles native who performs most often at The World Famous Comedy Store, and in May 2025 Felipe Esparza’s podcast introduced him as a stand-up comedian and the drummer for the band Mad Peaceful. Ludwig still describes him as the drummer for Kill Tony, a page that has not caught up.
Why is Joel Jimenez called Joelberg? How did he get on Kill Tony?
Joel Jimenez got the name Joelberg on Kill Tony #202, recorded March 20, 2017, when Tony Hinchcliffe made a Bill Goldberg joke and Joel answered that he was more like “Joel-berg,” per One West Magazine. He first came to the show through the bucket: One West says he killed his first 60-second set on #142 (recorded February 8, 2016), about four years into stand-up, and the show posted the moment as JOELBERG is born on its YouTube channel. Band leader Pat Regan then mentioned that Joel drummed for his side project The Baby Boys, and Joel joined the band as a fill-in percussionist on #154 and got his own microphone by #200 (March 2017). The notes credit him by name from #156.
What is Joel Jimenez doing now?
As of 2025, the latest year we could confirm, Joel Jimenez was doing stand-up in Los Angeles, drumming in the band Mad Peaceful and co-hosting podcasts. Felipe Esparza’s podcast (May 7, 2025) called him one half of the Lesser Known Characters and Dogs of Browntown podcasts. Lesser Known Characters, which he hosts with comedian Shapel Lacey, asks guests about the songs that shaped their lives and is listed as a weekly Monday show; the latest episode we could confirm is Ep 118, “Reggae Music,” dated August 18, 2025, per its listing. He has also kept working with Jeremiah Watkins, traveling with him to the La Jolla Comedy Store for Jeremiah Wonders Ep 258 (November 21, 2022).
Is Joel Jimenez from Kill Tony the baseball player?
No, this Joel Jimenez is the Los Angeles comedian and former Kill Tony drummer known as Joelberg, not the baseball player who shares the name. He is also not the other people named Joel Jimenez who come up in searches for Hunter College, Wichita Falls or Eagle Pass, Texas. If you are looking for the drummer behind Tony Hinchcliffe on Kill Tony from 2016 to 2020, you are in the right place.
How old is Joel Jimenez?
Joel Jimenez’s age is not published. We could not find a birthdate from him or from Famous Birthdays, so we do not state an age and we do not guess. What is on the record is that he started drumming at 14, per Ludwig, and had been doing stand-up for a little over four years when he first went on Kill Tony in February 2016, per One West Magazine.
What is Joel Jimenez’s real name?
Joel Jimenez performs under his own name; Kill Tony’s episode notes credit him as Joel Jimenez on nearly 300 episodes, and One West Magazine printed the same name. Joelberg is the nickname he got on the show in 2017, the notes spell it Joel Jiminez once, on #605, and he posts as @mostlysorry on Instagram and X.
Where is Joel Jimenez from?
Joel Jimenez is from Los Angeles, where he grew up and still works. One West Magazine wrote in 2019 about him growing up in Los Angeles, and a show listing at The Punk Rock Museum in Las Vegas calls him a Los Angeles native whose stand-up draws on growing up in the city.
Where can I watch Joel Jimenez?
Joel Jimenez’s Kill Tony years are on the Kill Tony YouTube channel and podcast feed, episodes 156 to 486, starting with the show’s clip JOELBERG is born. He co-hosts Lesser Known Characters on YouTube, about 4,500 subscribers as of October 2026. Other appearances include Comic Routines, Jeremiah Watkins’ Stand-Up On The Spot and Jeremiah Wonders, the Rocknroll Beer Guy podcast (March 2020) and Felipe Esparza’s What’s Up Fool? (May 2025). He posts as @mostlysorry on Instagram and X; we could not read a follower count.
What is Joel Jimenez’s net worth?
Joel Jimenez does not publish a number and neither do we.
Is Joel Jimenez married? Who is Joel Jimenez’s wife?
Not something we cover.
Who represents Joel Jimenez?
As of October 2026, no agent or manager is named publicly for Joel Jimenez that we could find; his drum endorsement is with Ludwig, which is a gear deal, not representation. Ames Create does not represent him; we cover him because people still search for the Kill Tony drummer and ask why he is not in the band anymore, and the show’s own notes answer most of it. If that changes, this entry will say so.
Our read
Ames Create does not work with Joel Jimenez. This is our view, from a team that works on creator brands for a living.
The format. Two jobs in one chair. On Kill Tony he was the drummer who could also talk, cutting into the host’s riffs from behind the kit and playing bits like the Mexican Drum-Off on #324. His own stand-up, per the people who book him, is about growing up in Los Angeles and daily life there, and the podcast he hosts now is about music rather than comedy.
Why it travels. The Joelberg moments travel because they came from a band member, not a booked comic: a drummer stepping out to win the room. Fan channels still post best-of compilations under the nickname years after his last weekly episode, and the Kill Tony question, why the band changed when the show moved, keeps his name in searches.
Brand fit. Drum and music gear is the proven fit; Ludwig has endorsed him since 2019. Los Angeles comedy rooms, music podcasts and brands aimed at punk and skate audiences make sense too. His reach today is a podcast audience in the thousands, so this is a niche, credibility-first fit rather than a mass one.
