Brian Redban, known as Redban, is the producer who started The Joe Rogan Experience with Joe Rogan on December 24, 2009, and the co-creator of Kill Tony with Tony Hinchcliffe. He produced and co-hosted Rogan’s show for its first years, began sharing episodes with Jamie Vernon as the schedule grew, and has been a named guest on 32 episodes since 2015, most recently #2409 in November 2025, per the JRE feed. He is still on Kill Tony every week: the show’s episode notes credit him on every episode from #1 in 2013 to #789, recorded October 5, 2026. Questions people ask

Who is Redban? Why is he famous?

Redban is Brian Redban, the producer and comedian who was in the room for episode #1 of The Joe Rogan Experience on December 24, 2009, and who co-created Kill Tony with Tony Hinchcliffe in 2013. He told Cara Santa Maria’s Talk Nerdy in 2014 that Rogan hired him full time to film and edit videos for his websites, that fans wanted content faster, and that the two of them started streaming from Rogan’s office to talk to fans, which became the podcast. His X bio sums up the rest: JRE co-creator, Kill Tony co-host, co-owner of Sunset Strip Comedy Club in Austin and founder of Deathsquad.

Why did Redban leave JRE? Why did he stop producing Joe Rogan’s podcast?

He stepped back over time rather than leaving in one moment, and he explained it himself. On a November 23, 2014 episode of Talk Nerdy, Redban said Rogan had started recording more often and for longer than he could keep up with, so Rogan brought in Jamie Vernon to fill in for him and the two began splitting the episodes. The JRE feed still billed him as the show’s producer and co-host on #389 in September 2013, lists him as a guest from 2015 on, and by October 2017 PC Gamer described Vernon as the show’s sole producer and audio engineer. We found no on-the-record statement from either man describing it any other way.

What happened between Redban and Joe Rogan? Are they still friends?

Nothing on the record points to a split. In June 2023 Redban told the Los Angeles Times that he still worked for Rogan full time when he invested in Sunset Strip Comedy Club, down the street from Rogan’s Comedy Mothership, and worried it was “probably a bad idea.” When he told Rogan on the Mothership’s opening night, he said Rogan’s reaction was “That’s awesome!” and that they now joke about it. The JRE feed has 32 episodes since August 2015 with Redban’s name in the title, the latest #2409 on November 11, 2025, and Rogan keeps guesting on Kill Tony with Redban in the credits, most recently #775, recorded June 22, 2026, per the show’s episode notes.

Is Redban still on Kill Tony? Who is Redban on Kill Tony?

Yes, as of October 2026. Kill Tony’s own episode notes credit Brian Redban alongside Tony Hinchcliffe on every episode in the feed, from #1 (recorded June 3, 2013) to #789 (recorded October 5, 2026), and JRE’s notes for a December 2014 episode call Kill Tony “a show created by Tony Hinchcliffe and Redban.” He is the co-host beside Tony: on #734 you can hear him open the episode with the Deathsquad network intro, put his own questions to the bucket-pull comedians, read a sponsor spot and offer one comic a spot on his Secret Show. That is also the answer to why he is on it: it is partly his show. Comedians with their own entries here who have worked that stage with him include regulars William Montgomery, Hans Kim, Dedrick Flynn and Martin Phillips, early cast member Kim Congdon, and Pat Regan and Jeremiah Watkins of the show’s Los Angeles house band.

What is Deathsquad, and what is the Secret Show?

Deathsquad is Redban’s podcast network; deathsquad.tv bills itself as “the podcasts of Brian Redban” and posts every Kill Tony episode. Christina P told Vulture in 2017 that Your Mom’s House first ran “with Redban as part of DEATHSQUAD” before she and her co-host moved it home. The Deathsquad Secret Show is his stand-up night with an unannounced lineup; the Los Angeles Times reported in June 2023 that it opened Sunset Strip Comedy Club, which he co-owns with two partners, and quoted him saying that in Austin “it sells out almost every show.”

How old is Redban? Where is he from?

Redban is 52. Famous Birthdays gives his birthday as August 4, 1974 and his birthplace as Columbus, Ohio. On Talk Nerdy he said he lived in Ohio and tried open mics there before moving to California to work for Rogan. He is now based in Austin, Texas, which his Instagram bio lists; Austin Monthly counted him in 2022 among the comedians who followed Rogan there.

What is Redban’s real name? Where does the name Redban come from?

He works as Brian Redban everywhere: on JRE, on Kill Tony, on his own channels and in the Los Angeles Times. We found no other name published by him or by major press, so we do not print one. We also could not find him explaining where the name Redban comes from in a source we could check, so we leave that alone.

Is Redban the same as Redbank or redband?

No. This entry is about Brian Redban, the podcast producer. Redbank Plains is a suburb in Queensland, Australia, and redband trout is a fish; searches for those are about something else. The TikTok handle @redban is also not his account.

Where can I watch Redban?

Every week on Kill Tony, on the Kill Tony YouTube channel and at deathsquad.tv. His JRE appearances are in the JRE feed, from #1 in 2009 to #2409 in 2025. His own YouTube, @redban, is where he says he plays Virtual Redban and makes silly videos, and he is on Instagram @redban, X @redban and Twitch. The Secret Show plays live at Sunset Strip Comedy Club in Austin.

What is Redban’s net worth?

He does not publish a number and neither do we.

What about Redban’s family or personal life?

Not something we cover.

Who represents Redban?

His Deathsquad site and his channels do not name an agency or manager that we found. Ames Create does not represent him; we cover him because he helped start JRE, still co-hosts Kill Tony, and people keep asking why he stepped back from the first one. If that changes, this entry will say so.

Our read

Ames Create does not work with Redban. This is our view, from a team that works on creator brands for a living.

The format. Redban’s skill is building the room rather than holding the microphone. He set up the stream that became JRE, and on Kill Tony he works from beside the host: one sharp question to a nervous comic, a sponsor read, an invite to the Secret Show, then he lets Tony and the comedian carry it. The Secret Show runs on the same idea, a lineup nobody knows in advance, sold on trust in who booked it.

Why it travels. Most of his reach lives inside other people’s shows. Kill Tony’s YouTube channel has about 2.8 million subscribers, while his own Instagram and X sit near 290,000 and 280,000 and his YouTube under 50,000. The JRE origin story keeps him in search, because every new Rogan listener eventually wonders who the other guy on episode #1 was.

Brand fit. Brands already buying Kill Tony reads are buying a slice of him too, and he reads spots on the show himself. His questions to comics run adult, so family brands are not a fit. Comedy clubs, ticketing, and audio and streaming gear suit the producer side of his story.
