Tony Hinchcliffe is a stand-up comedian raised in Youngstown, Ohio, best known for creating and hosting Kill Tony, the live podcast he started in June 2013 with co-host Redban. Most searches about him come from three moments: a May 2021 set that cost him his agency, his October 27, 2024 set at Donald Trump’s Madison Square Garden rally, and a George Floyd joke at Netflix’s live Roast of Kevin Hart on May 10, 2026. None of them ended the show: as of October 2026 Kill Tony still tapes every week in Austin, and Netflix released his stand-up hour Man of the People in June 2026. His own Instagram has about 913,000 followers, and the Kill Tony YouTube channel about 2.8 million subscribers.

Questions people ask
Who is Tony Hinchcliffe?
Tony Hinchcliffe is a stand-up comedian and roast writer who grew up in Youngstown, Ohio, and has hosted the Kill Tony podcast since 2013, per NBC New York, which also reports he has written for or appeared on eight Comedy Central Roasts. Famous Birthdays dates his start to 2007 at the Comedy Store in Hollywood. His own site says Kill Tony began in June 2013 and now runs permanently at The Comedy Mothership in downtown Austin, Texas, and that he played two sold-out Kill Tony shows at Madison Square Garden in 2024.
Why did Tony Hinchcliffe get cancelled? What happened to him?
People use the word for three separate moments, and none of them stopped his career. In May 2021, at a set in Austin, he used a slur aimed at comedian Peng Dang, who had introduced him; his talent agency WME dropped him and several gigs were canceled, and he did not apologize, per NBC New York. In October 2024 came the Madison Square Garden rally set (next question). In May 2026 came the Kevin Hart roast (below). In between, on March 10, 2025, Netflix announced three Kill Tony specials and a one-hour stand-up special for him. As of October 2026 he is still hosting Kill Tony every week: episode #790 was recorded October 12, 2026, per the show’s episode notes.
What happened with Tony Hinchcliffe and Puerto Rico at the Trump rally?
On October 27, 2024, he was one of nearly 30 speakers before Donald Trump’s rally at Madison Square Garden and called Puerto Rico “a floating island of garbage,” per NBC New York, which reported that other jokes in the set also drew criticism. Trump campaign senior adviser Danielle Alvarez said the joke did not reflect the views of Trump or the campaign. His response on X, per NBC New York: “These people have no sense of humor,” adding that the joke was taken out of context and that he loves Puerto Rico and vacations there. On Kill Tony, recorded the day after the rally, he said he would not apologize to anyone, per Primera Hora (November 12, 2024), and Chortle reported that Trump said he did not know who Hinchcliffe was.
Did Tony Hinchcliffe lose bookings or his Netflix deal over the rally?
We found no report in major or trade press of a booking he lost over the rally set. About four and a half months later, on March 10, 2025, Netflix announced three Kill Tony specials, the first premiering April 7, 2025 from The Comedy Mothership, plus a one-hour stand-up special. In his statement he called Netflix’s creative freedom “a comedian’s dream.” In 2025 Kill Tony also played the O2 Arena in London, Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Madison Square Garden and the Moody Center in Austin, per WWE’s announcement of their Netflix special together.
What happened to Tony Hinchcliffe’s Netflix special?
It came out. The hour promised in the March 2025 deal is Tony Hinchcliffe: Man of the People, released on Netflix on June 9, 2026, a 55-minute special directed by Anthony Giordano, per its Rotten Tomatoes listing. Kill Tony’s Netflix run continued too: KillTonyMania, taped April 18, 2026 at Dolby Live in Las Vegas during WrestleMania 42 week, premiered on Netflix on April 20, 2026, per WWE. His first hour, One Shot, went up on Netflix on January 15, 2016, per Famous Birthdays. We found no report of Netflix pulling any of them.
What happened at the Kevin Hart roast with Tony Hinchcliffe?
Netflix’s Roast of Kevin Hart streamed live on May 10, 2026 from the Kia Forum, with Shane Gillis hosting, per The Source. Hinchcliffe’s set included a joke about George Floyd that drew the most backlash, per Variety; Floyd’s family released a statement criticizing it and Lil Rel Howery called it “just disgusting,” per TheGrio. Kevin Hart said on The Breakfast Club that Hinchcliffe “arguably had the best set or one of the best sets,” that the Floyd joke “wasn’t a tasteful joke” to his audience, and that he was not shocked, per Variety. We found no public response from Hinchcliffe in that coverage.
Is Kill Tony still running? Where is it now?
Yes. As of October 2026 it tapes weekly at The Comedy Mothership in Austin, per the feed description and his site. The newest episode, #790 with Yung Gravy and Erik Griffin, was recorded October 12, 2026, and the feed also posts a weekly Behind the Tape episode. Redban is still his co-host. The Netflix special KillTonyMania lists regulars and alumni with entries here, including William Montgomery, Dedrick Flynn, Casey Rocket and Uncle Lazer.
Why did Tony Hinchcliffe move to Austin?
He has not given a reason in a source we could check. What is public: Austin Monthly counted him in June 2022 among “a pandemic-era Brat Pack of comedians including Brian Redban and Tony Hinchcliffe” who followed Joe Rogan to Austin. Kill Tony now runs permanently at The Comedy Mothership, Rogan’s club in downtown Austin, per his site.
Why is Tony Hinchcliffe famous? Why is he so popular?
Mostly Kill Tony. WWE’s 2026 announcement calls it “the biggest live podcast in the world” and says it was the most-watched comedy show of 2024, with 800 million minutes viewed on a single episode. Netflix’s deal announcement credits his breakout to The Roast of Tom Brady, filmed live at Netflix Is A Joke Fest in 2024. The premise also helps: comedians draw from a bucket for one minute on stage, then sit for an interview with him and the panel.
Is Tony Hinchcliffe a felon? Was he arrested?
We found no report of an arrest or a criminal conviction in major or trade press.
How old is Tony Hinchcliffe? Where is he from?
He is 42, born June 8, 1984, per Famous Birthdays. He was raised in Youngstown, Ohio, per NBC New York, and is now based in Austin, Texas, where Kill Tony tapes.
Is Tony Hinchcliffe married? What about his personal life?
We could not find a marriage he has made public in a source we could check, so we do not list one. Dating, breakups, and questions about his health that he has not addressed on the record are not something we cover.
Where can I watch Tony Hinchcliffe?
Kill Tony every week on the Kill Tony YouTube channel and in the podcast feed; on Netflix, his hours Man of the People (2026) and One Shot (2016), the Kill Tony specials including KillTonyMania, and the roasts of Tom Brady and Kevin Hart. Tour dates are on tonyhinchcliffe.com, and he posts on Instagram @tonyhinchcliffe.
What is Tony Hinchcliffe’s net worth?
He does not publish a number and neither do we.
Who represents Tony Hinchcliffe?
His contact page lists United Talent Agency for booking and Brillstein Entertainment Partners for management. Ames Create does not represent him; we cover him because he hosts the show behind many of the Kill Tony entries in this index, and people keep asking why he was called cancelled and whether the show is still running. If that changes, this entry will say so.
Our read
Ames Create does not work with Tony Hinchcliffe. This is our view, from a team that works on creator brands for a living.
The format. Kill Tony is a live open mic with stakes: a stranger’s name comes out of a bucket, they get one minute, and then he interviews them in front of a sold-out room and a celebrity panel. He is the constant in a format built on chaos, part host and part roaster, and the regulars give a weekly audience someone to root for.
Why it travels. Every bucket pull is a finished clip with a setup, a stranger and a verdict, which is why the Kill Tony channel sits at about 2.8 million subscribers. His own reach rides on that and on Netflix, which has now carried his roast sets, the Kill Tony specials and his 2026 hour. The controversies travel as clips too, which is why the same three moments come up in searches about him.
Brand fit. The partners who have stayed are platforms and live events: Netflix, WWE, arenas. His material treats every subject as fair game and has drawn national criticism three times since 2021, so mainstream consumer brands are a hard fit, and he has not apologized for past sets, per the coverage above.
