Find your best performing videos, and why they worked

What already works for you, in plain words, and what to do with it. This is what comes back when you type a handle.

  • 01

Your normal, and what beat it

The median views of your recent posts, and every post that at least doubled it, with how many times over.

  • 02

    Your outliers, side by side

The posts that broke out, ranked by how far they beat your normal, with the ones that fell under it for contrast.

  • 03

    The pattern behind your hits

What your winners share that the rest do not: the format, the first words, the topic, the length.

  • 04

Hooks built from your own posts

Five openers in the shape of your hits, with blanks for your next idea, and three things to test. Yours, not a template.

How it works

What makes it worth using

  • It measures you against you

A hit is a post that beat your own normal, not someone else’s. That is why it works at 300 views a post or 3 million.

  • No score

We do not grade your page. You get what worked, in plain words, and what to test next.

  • Free, with no account

No sign-up, no email wall and no login to your socials. A few audits a day each keeps it free for everyone.

  • Honest about what it can see

It reads your captions, titles and numbers. It has not watched your videos, and it says so in the result.

How to audit your TikTok, Instagram or YouTube account

You can do this by hand. It is the same method the tool uses.

  1. List your last 12 posts and their views. Skip pinned posts, because they are old hits you chose to keep at the top. Skip anything under 48 hours old, because its views are still climbing.

  2. Find the median. Line the view counts up from lowest to highest and take the one in the middle. That is your normal. Do not use the average: one viral post drags it up and makes every ordinary post look like a failure.

  3. Mark every post at 2x your normal or more. Those are your outliers, your best performing videos measured against you and not against anyone else.

  4. Write down what the outliers share. The format, the first words of the caption or title, the topic, the length. Then look at your lowest posts and ask whether they share the opposite.

Or type your handle at the top of this page. The audit does all four steps from your public numbers, then writes up the pattern and gives you hooks built from your own hits.

How we work out your normal

Your normal is the median view count of your last 12 posts: the one in the middle when they are lined up from lowest to highest. We use the median because an average lies. One post that takes off drags an average up, and suddenly every ordinary post looks like a failure.

Two kinds of post are left out of the normal. Pinned posts, because they are old hits you chose to keep at the top. And posts under 48 hours old, because their views are still climbing.

What counts as a hit (an outlier video)

A hit is any post at 2x your normal or more. Some people call these outliers, or best performing videos. It is measured against you, not against the platform. A post that did 9,000 views is a hit on a page that usually does 3,000, and a miss on a page that usually does 90,000.

That is why this works at any size. The question is never “is this a lot of views”. It is “what did this post do that my others did not”.

What the audit reads on each platform

One account at a time. Your normal always comes from your last 12 posts, and the hits are picked from everything it reads.

TikTok account audit

It reads your recent public videos, usually the last 20 or so: the caption, the views, the length and the date. Pinned videos are set aside. TikTok captions are often a few words, so the audit leans harder on length, timing and repeated formats, and it will tell you when your captions do not give it much to go on. The TikTok Account Audit has its own page.

Instagram Reels audit

It reads your recent public Reels, usually the last 20 or so, with their captions, views, length and dates. Reels only: photo posts, carousels and Stories are not read, because views are what the audit is built on. The Instagram Reels Audit has its own page.

YouTube channel audit

It reads your recent long-form videos, usually 30 or more, by title, views, length and date. On YouTube the title carries the promise, so this is where the audit has the most to work with. Shorts behave differently, so they are read on their own: pick YouTube Shorts to audit those. The YouTube Channel Audit has its own page.

What this audit does not check

Many tools called an audit give you a score. This one answers a narrower question, and it is worth being plain about what it leaves out.

  • Fake followers. It does not score your followers or look for bots. That is a different kind of tool, built for brands that are vetting a creator.
  • Engagement rate. The audit is built on views, because views are what tell you a video traveled. It does not grade your likes or comments.
  • Who your audience is. Age, country and gender live inside your own analytics, behind your login. We never ask for it.
  • Account status. It cannot tell you about strikes, restrictions or a shadowban. It only sees what a visitor to your profile sees.
  • Your profile setup. Bio, links, highlights and thumbnails are not part of it. This is an audit of what your videos did.
  • The videos themselves. It has not watched them. It reads the words you published with them and the numbers they earned.

What happens in the first two seconds on screen, the sound you used, the edit: those are yours to weigh. You know your videos. This gives you the part that is hard to see from the inside.

Questions people ask

How do I find out what is working on my TikTok, Instagram or YouTube?

Compare your posts to your own normal, not to anyone else’s. Find the median views of your recent posts, then look at which ones at least doubled it and what those have in common: the format, the first words, the topic, the length. The Page Audit does this from your public numbers and writes up the pattern.

How do I audit my TikTok account for free?

Pick TikTok, type your handle and run it. The audit reads your recent public videos, works out your normal from the last 12, and shows which videos beat it and what they share. There is no login and no account. To do it by hand, list your last 12 videos, find the median views and mark everything at 2x or more.

How do I audit my Instagram account?

Start with your Reels, because views are how Instagram shows whether a Reel traveled. Find the median views of your recent Reels, mark the ones that at least doubled it, and write down what they share. The Page Audit does this for Reels from your public numbers. It does not read photo posts, carousels or Stories.

How do I do a YouTube channel audit?

Compare your recent videos with your own median, not with your subscriber count or with another channel. On YouTube the title carries the promise, so the pattern is often in how your best titles open. Pick YouTube for long-form or YouTube Shorts for Shorts, type your handle, and the audit shows your outliers and what their titles have in common.

How do I find my best performing videos?

Sorting by views finds your biggest videos, which is not the same thing. Your best performing videos are the ones that beat what you usually get at the time. The audit ranks your recent posts by how many times over your normal they went, so a post at 2x on a small page counts the same as one on a large page.

What is an outlier video?

A post that did far more views than you usually get. We count anything at 2x your normal or more. Outliers matter because they show what your audience, and the feed, wanted more of. One could be luck. Three with something in common is a pattern.

Why do some of my videos get views and others don’t?

Usually the answer is in your own posts. When you line the hits up next to the rest, they tend to share something: a format, a way of opening, a topic, a length. The audit puts them side by side and names what it can see. Sometimes the hits share nothing visible in the captions and numbers, and it says that too.

Why did my views drop after going viral?

Most of the time nothing is wrong. A breakout post reaches people far outside your usual audience, and the next post goes back to the people who normally see you. That is why we measure against your median, which one viral post barely moves. The useful question is what the breakout did that your other posts did not.

Is this a TikTok audit, an Instagram audit or a YouTube channel audit?

All three, one account at a time. Pick TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube or YouTube Shorts, type the handle, and it reads that account’s recent public posts. It is an audit of what your videos did, not of your profile settings or your followers.

Does this check for fake followers?

No. It does not score followers or look for bots. Tools that do are built for brands deciding whether to hire a creator. This one is for the creator: it reads your views and tells you what your own hits have in common.

Can I audit someone else’s account?

It reads public posts, so it will run on any public account. It is built for your own page, though. The hooks and the things to test are written for the person who makes the videos, and it is not a way to vet a creator or check their followers.

Do I need my password or to connect my account?

No. It reads what is already public on your profile. There is nothing to connect and we never ask for a password. It does not work on private accounts.

How often should I audit my account?

When enough has changed to give a different answer. Your normal comes from your last 12 posts, so once you have posted about that many new ones, the audit is reading a new set. Running it again the next day will mostly tell you the same thing.

Do you watch my videos?

No. The read is built from your captions or titles, your view counts, the length of each post and when it went up. It cannot see what happens on screen or hear the sound, and it says so in the result. Treat it as a sharp second opinion from someone who has only seen your numbers.

Will this make my videos go viral?

No tool can promise that, and we will not. It shows you the pattern in what already worked for you, which is the best evidence you have, and gives you a few things to test.

Why is there no score?

Because a score would not tell you what to make next. You get what your hits share, in plain words, and hooks built from them. That is more use than a grade.

Is the Page Audit free?

Yes, with no account and no email. Each person gets a few reads a day, which keeps it free for everyone. If you want to know what your normal is worth to a brand, the Rate Calculator works that out from the same numbers.
