Josh Potter is a stand-up comedian and podcaster from Buffalo, New York, now based in Los Angeles, who spent about 15 years in morning radio before comedy took over. Fans of Your Mom’s House know him as the Roach: from 2018 to early 2021 he was a regular on the couch with Tom Segura and Christina P, and he opened for Segura on the road. Since September 2020 he has hosted his own weekly show, which started on YMH Studios as Roach Motel and became The Josh Potter Show, now past 300 episodes on its own channel. He has about 84,000 followers on Instagram.

Questions people ask
Who is Josh Potter?
Josh Potter is a stand-up comedian and podcaster from Buffalo, New York, who lives in Los Angeles. His club bios say he started in morning radio and spent 15 years broadcasting while doing stand-up at night. In 2017 Tom Segura told the University at Buffalo’s Spectrum that Potter, a Buffalo native who had just moved to LA, had been “basically my opener for this whole tour.” He became a regular on Segura and Christina P’s podcast Your Mom’s House, where the notes call him the Roach, and since 2020 he has hosted The Josh Potter Show every Wednesday.
Why did Josh Potter leave YMH? What happened to Josh Potter on Your Mom’s House?
He has not given a reason on the record that we could find, and there is no reported falling out. What is public, from the show feeds: Your Mom’s House episode notes feature him from October 2018 and call him a “YMH regular” through 2020, with his last regular-style couch segment in Ep. 593 (March 3, 2021). YMH Studios had launched his own show in September 2020. On April 27, 2021, Ep. 30 of that show, titled “We’re Moving!”, was billed as “the last Josh Potter Show coming out of Studio Jeans,” and it moved to his own YouTube channel. He has been back on YMH as a guest since, in Ep. 708, “Return of the Roach” (May 17, 2023) and Ep. 750 (March 13, 2024), where the notes call him a “longtime YMH favorite.”
What happened to Josh Potter? What is he doing now?
He is still doing the same two jobs: stand-up and a weekly podcast. As of October 2026, The Josh Potter Show is on Ep. 314 (October 7, 2026), mostly solo episodes on sports and strange local news plus comedian guests like Sara Weinshenk and Matt Fulchiron, with sponsor reads. His YouTube channel has about 49,000 subscribers and more than 5.9 million total views, and he books club dates through his Punchup page.
Is Josh Potter still with YMH Studios? What happened to Behind the Jeans?
Not as a regular, but the door has stayed open. In March 2024 YMH Studios launched Behind the Jeans, a weekly livestream where Potter recapped the network’s shows, billed as “our friend Josh Potter is coming back to YMH Studios.” Its feed ran 53 episodes, from March 13, 2024 to April 16, 2025, and has not added one since; neither he nor the network has said why, in anything we could source. In February 2026 he taped Ep. 281 of his own show live at the YMH studios in Austin with Enny, his original producer.
How does Josh Potter know Tom Segura?
Through work. Segura took him on the road as his opener by 2017, per the Spectrum interview, and Your Mom’s House notes from November 2019 recap the two of them touring Europe together. Potter then became a regular on the podcast, and Segura was the guest on Ep. 7 of Potter’s own show in November 2020.
What is The Josh Potter Show? Was it called Roach Motel?
Yes. It launched on YMH Studios on September 29, 2020 as Roach Motel with Josh Potter, a weekly rundown of “all the important AND unimportant events of the world, of sports, and anything else.” Its feed shows it renamed The Josh Potter Show after seven episodes, in November 2020. Listeners who send in local news clips are called Roach Reporters.
Why is Josh Potter called the Roach?
It is the name Your Mom’s House gave him: the notes call him “The Roach,” “The Human Cockroach” and “the Cockroach,” and his own show calls him Papa Roach. We could not find an on-the-record account of where the nickname started, so we leave it there.
How old is Josh Potter, and where is he from?
He has not published a birth date, so we do not list an age. He is from Buffalo, New York, per his Punchup bio and Tom Segura in 2017, and he is a loud Buffalo Bills fan on the show. He now lives in Los Angeles.
What is Josh Potter’s real name?
He performs as Josh Potter everywhere, and he has not published any other name, nor has major press.
Where can I watch Josh Potter?
The Josh Potter Show is on YouTube at @TheJoshPotterShow and on Apple Podcasts, with extras on Patreon and streams on Twitch. His Your Mom’s House years are in the YMH archive, roughly episodes 469 to 593, and Behind the Jeans is on the YMH Studios feed. He is on Instagram as @josh_potter, on X as @j_potter and on Cameo, and stand-up dates are on Punchup.
What is Josh Potter’s net worth?
Josh Potter does not publish a number and neither do we.
What about Josh Potter’s family or personal life?
Not something we cover.
Who represents Josh Potter?
His podcast notes list a show email for listener submissions, and his Punchup page handles tickets; no agency or manager is named on either. Ames Create does not represent him; we cover him because people keep asking why he left Your Mom’s House, and most of the answer is in the show feeds. If that changes, this entry will say so.
Our read
Ames Create does not work with Josh Potter. This is our view, from a team that works on creator brands for a living.
The format. A radio morning show squeezed into a podcast: sports talk, strange local news and a running cast of fan-submitted clips from the Roach Reporters, delivered by someone who did the real version for 15 years. The guests are mostly working comedians, so the show doubles as a hang.
Why it travels. Local news bloopers and bizarre sports moments are already clips, and his reactions are easy to cut. Most of his audience came over from Your Mom’s House, one of the biggest comedy podcasts there is, and the return visits to YMH keep that bridge open.
Brand fit. The show already carries reads from Quince, Home Chef, Rocket Money, Gametime and Bilt, so direct-to-consumer brands, ticketing and men’s basics fit the room. Sports betting and fantasy apps match the content. The humor is crude by design, so family brands should pass.
