Questions people ask

Who is Barstool Smitty?

Barstool Smitty is Adam Smith, a Philadelphia sports personality best known for his years at Barstool Sports. A St. Joseph’s University Hawk News report from May 2022 said Barstool had employed him since 2011 to write about sports and host podcasts, and described him as Barstool’s Philadelphia guy. He left Barstool, launched his own podcast in February 2026 and, as of September 2026, talks Philly sports part-time on 97.5 The Fanatic.

What happened to Barstool Smitty? Did Smitty get fired from Barstool?

Neither he nor Barstool has said, in anything we could source, whether he was let go or chose to leave, so we do not call it either way. What is public: his own podcast, For Who, For What, launched on the Blue Wire network on February 11, 2026, with a first episode recapping what he called his journey so far. By September 15, 2026, Barrett Media was describing him as a former Barstool Sports personality after more than a decade there. Asked about the move, he told Barrett Media that “there’s a lot of stuff that goes on at Barstool that’s reality show related” and that talking Philly sports “is where I want to be.”

Is Smitty still at Barstool Sports?

No. As of October 2026 he is a former Barstool personality, per Barrett Media. His X account, once @SmittyBarstool, now goes by @Smittyverse_, and its bio lists 97.5 The Fanatic and his podcast, not Barstool. His Instagram handle still reads @smittybarstool.

What is Barstool Smitty doing now?

Philly sports talk. In September 2026 he joined 97.5 The Fanatic in Philadelphia as a part-time contributor, appearing weekly on Marks & Salciunas and on other weekday shows, per Barrett Media. He called himself a “utility player” and credited the station’s Scott Masteller for the opportunity. He also hosts For Who, For What on Blue Wire, which ran eight weekly episodes from February 11 to April 1, 2026, with guests such as former Major Leaguer Ryan Kalish and PokerGO CEO Brent Hanks.

What is Barstool Smitty’s real name?

Adam Smith. The Philadelphia Inquirer called him Barstool host Adam Smith in November 2021, Barrett Media used the same name in 2026, and his X profile and podcast both carry it.

Is Barstool Smitty related to the economist Adam Smith?

No. This entry is about the Philadelphia sports personality. He shares a name with the 18th-century Scottish economist who wrote The Wealth of Nations, and that is the whole connection.

How old is Barstool Smitty?

He has not published a birth date, so we do not list an age.

What did Smitty do at Barstool Sports?

He wrote blogs, hosted podcasts and posted on social media as the company’s Philadelphia voice, per Hawk News. When Barstool opened its sports bar in Center City Philadelphia in 2022, Hawk News quoted him on it: “The more Barstool in the City of Brotherly Love, the better.” In November 2021 the Inquirer reported that his Instagram story had pointed fans to the likely location of that bar.

Where can I watch or listen to Smitty?

On 97.5 The Fanatic in Philadelphia, mostly during Marks & Salciunas. His podcast For Who, For What is on Apple Podcasts and Spotify, and he posts on X @Smittyverse_ and Instagram @smittybarstool. His older work is in the Barstool Sports archive.

What is Barstool Smitty’s net worth?

He does not publish a number and neither do we.

What about Smitty’s family or personal life?

Not something we cover.

Who represents Barstool Smitty?

No agent or manager is named on his profiles or in the press we found. His podcast is distributed by Blue Wire, and his Linktree links only to the show. Ames Create does not represent him; we cover him because people keep asking what happened to him after Barstool, and part of the answer is on the record. If that changes, this entry will say so.

Our read

Ames Create does not work with Barstool Smitty. This is our view, from a team that works on creator brands for a living.

The format. For years the format was simple: one guy who reacts to Philadelphia sports the way the city does, inside a national brand that wanted a local voice. That kind of role works because fans of a team want someone who feels the result the way they do, not a neutral analyst.

Why it travels. Philadelphia fan reaction travels inside Philadelphia first. Game-day takes, wins and meltdowns get shared by people who watched the same game, and the Barstool name carried them to sports fans in other cities who follow Philadelphia’s teams as a storyline of their own.

Brand fit. Philadelphia-area brands and the sponsors already around sports talk radio are the natural fit now that he is on local air. A national brand would want to see where the new podcast settles first, since its feed has been quiet since April 2026. He has said Philly sports is where he wants to be, so local is the honest pitch.
