Questions people ask
Who is Tommy Smokes?
Tommy Smokes is a comedy creator at Barstool Sports. His Barstool bio says he started as a social media intern in 2016, moved into a full-time content role in 2018 after becoming Dave Portnoy’s gambling good luck charm on Team Portnoy, and now makes short videos about everyday life, the half-scripted YouTube series The Smokes Show and sketch work. He interviewed for that 2016 internship on the same day as Glenny Balls, as he wrote in 2021. He is also Barstool’s resident Survivor superfan, which is how he ended up winning its office version.
What happened to Tommy Smokes? Is he still at Barstool?
Nothing that ended his run: as of October 9, 2026 he is still at Barstool. His X bio leads with “Barstool Sports,” his YouTube channel posted several new videos the week of October 5, 2026, including clips shot at Barstool HQ, and Snuffing Torches released its Survivor 51 Episode 3 recap on October 8. Among his 2026 projects is The Apartment, announced on March 9, 2026: five Barstool coworkers rent a basement studio in Chelsea and have to make the $2,600 rent from the show each month. If you are thinking of the Fox News clip, that is two questions down.
Did Tommy Smokes win Surviving Barstool?
Yes, Season 1. He wrote up the win on February 6, 2021, saying he played as the villain and that people had picked him to go out first. He came back for the season that premiered in November 2023, with a cast that included Dave Portnoy, Big Cat, PFT Commenter, Jersey Jerry and Rico Bosco; he wrote that he found a hidden immunity idol and played it to survive the first vote. He also won Barstool’s Most Dangerous Gameshow in 2022, and his bio adds The Dozen trivia tournament, which explains the “Winner Of Competitions” line on his X profile.
Why was Tommy Smokes on Fox News?
In November 2018 producers of The Ingraham Angle booked him to “represent the youth” in a segment about vaping after seeing a Barstool video about Juul, according to HuffPost (November 16, 2018). He wore a “Vape God” hat, vaped on air, called himself the “Colossus of Cloud” and joked his way through warnings from the doctor on the other side of the debate. HuffPost reported that he tweeted afterward that a producer had told him to stop vaping on air and that he did not. His Barstool bio says Pete Davidson later parodied the appearance on Saturday Night Live.
Why is he called Tommy Smokes? How did he get the name?
He has not explained the nickname in anything we could source, so we will not guess. What is public: he publishes as Tom Scibelli on X and Instagram, Barstool lists him as Tommy Smokes with the short name “Smokes,” and the name was already in use when HuffPost covered his Fox News appearance in November 2018.
What is Tommy Smokes’s real name?
Tom Scibelli. It is the handle on his own X and Instagram accounts, and HuffPost printed it in 2018 as “Tom Scibelli, also known as Tommy Smokes.”
Is Tommy Smokes on Survivor?
He covers it more than he plays it. He hosts Snuffing Torches, Barstool’s recap podcast, which launched in September 2021 with Glenny Balls, Jake Marsh, Nate and Jeff D Lowe, and is recapping Survivor 51 this fall. In April 2025 CBS invited him and seven other Survivor superfan creators to Fiji for a 36-hour mini game with a shelter, a fire, an immunity challenge and one tribal council, and his write-up, dated December 30, 2025, points to the full video Survivor posted on its YouTube channel.
Is there a Tommy Smokes controversy or lawsuit?
The moment major press covered is the 2018 Fox News segment above. We found no lawsuit involving him, or between him and Barstool, reported by major or trade press, and he has not described one on the record that we found, so there is nothing for us to report.
How old is Tommy Smokes?
He has not published a birthdate, so we do not list an age.
Where can I watch Tommy Smokes?
TikTok @tommysmokes, X @TomScibelli, Instagram @tomscibelli and YouTube @tommysmokes_, where The Smokes Show lives. The Apartment is on its own YouTube channel, Snuffing Torches is on Apple Podcasts and YouTube, and his blogs and videos are collected on his Barstool page. His link page is tommysmokes.bio.
What is Tommy Smokes’s net worth? What is his salary?
He does not publish a number and neither do we.
What about Tommy Smokes’s family or dating life?
Not something we cover.
Who represents Tommy Smokes?
He works for Barstool Sports, and no agency or manager is named on his X profile, his link page or his Barstool bio. Ames Create does not represent him; we cover him because people keep asking whether he is still at Barstool and where the name and the Fox News clip came from, and the answers are on the record. If that changes, this entry will say so.
Our read
Ames Create does not work with Tommy Smokes. This is our view, from a team that works on creator brands for a living.
The format. Short, self-aware bits about the small stuff of daily life, plus long-running formats with real stakes: a reality game he can win, a rent bill he has to cover, a Survivor season he has to call. He plays the confident winner who is in on the joke, which keeps the bragging funny instead of grating.
Why it travels. Barstool’s office shows give him a recurring cast and a storyline fans follow week to week, and the villain edit from Surviving Barstool gave people a reason to root against him, which is still a reason to watch. The Survivor fandom is the steady base: CBS putting him in a 36-hour mini game in Fiji says the show sees him as part of its fan community.
Brand fit. Deals run through Barstool, so the door is Barstool’s sales team. The natural fits are what he already talks about: Survivor and CBS, New York food and bars, the Yankees, and anything that suits a recap podcast audience. The 2018 vaping segment is old and was played for laughs, but a health or youth-facing brand should know it is the first thing that comes up.
