Questions people ask

Who is Billy Football?

Billy Football is the on-air name of Bill Cotter, a former Barstool Sports personality from New York. He got the Pardon My Take internship in the summer of 2017 at 18, played quarterback at Williams College, and returned to Barstool in 2020 as a regular on Pardon My Take and Macrodosing. Along the way he boxed Jose Canseco at Rough N Rowdy, coached American football in Uganda for the series Last Chance Uganda, and ran for Congress. He has about 325,000 followers on X.

What happened to Billy Football?

Four things, in order. He left Pardon My Take in August 2023 when the show moved to Chicago. In May 2024 he came off Macrodosing and, days later, suspended his campaign for Congress. He then ran his own podcast, Audiocraic, whose last episode is dated October 24, 2024, and his last Barstool blog went up the next day. On Barstool’s Drop A Pin podcast in February 2025 he said he had stepped away from the internet for family reasons, had started working in his family’s business, and did not know whether he would go back to making content.

Why did Billy Football leave Pardon My Take?

The show moved to Chicago and he did not. In a Barstool blog dated August 4, 2023, written on the way to record his last episode, he said he could not leave the Northeast, where his family and friends are, and that he took a voluntary pay cut to step off the show. Pardon My Take said goodbye to him on that day’s episode. He stayed at Barstool and on Macrodosing, but has not been part of the Pardon My Take cast since. In May 2024 he wrote, “I know a lot of you thought I got fired from Pardon My Take, but I didn’t.”

Why was Billy Football suspended from Pardon My Take?

In June 2022 he was suspended from both Pardon My Take and Macrodosing for one month, through July 17. In his own blog on June 20, 2022 he wrote that it was for “disrespect to my fellow PMT members for not taking the podcast as seriously as I should,” and in an apology three days earlier he said he “did not give 100% effort at the beginning of the show.” He wrote that he was still allowed in the office and could make other content during the month. He was back on Pardon My Take afterward and stayed until August 2023.

Did Billy Football get fired?

Not from Pardon My Take; he has said so directly. Macrodosing is closer. On May 2, 2024 he wrote that he had been told his remote status was hurting the show, that he was told his campaign had nothing to do with it, and that it “technically may count as getting fired from Macrodosing.” As for Barstool itself, he was asked on Drop A Pin in February 2025 whether he had been fired. His answer was that he never found out whether he would have been renewed, and that there was a high probability he would not have been. We have not found a Barstool statement on his exit.

Why did Billy Football leave Barstool?

By his account, he stepped away before the question of a new contract was settled. On October 15, 2024 he wrote that he was part-time, in a contract year, and had “no idea what my future is with Barstool past this year.” His last blog is dated October 25, 2024. On Drop A Pin in February 2025 he said he went offline at that point for family reasons, took on work in his family’s business, and never tested whether Barstool would re-sign him. The family part is his to tell, and not something we cover.

Did Billy Football run for Congress?

Yes. In March 2024 he announced a run as a Republican in New York’s 3rd Congressional District under his real name, Bill Cotter (Fox News, April 2, 2024). He was 25, the minimum age for the House. He wrote on April 9 that he had the signatures to make the June 25 primary ballot, then on April 23 that his petitions were being challenged in court. On May 7, 2024 he announced he was “being forced to suspend” the campaign.

How old is Billy Football? What is his real name?

He is 27; Famous Birthdays lists January 13, 1999. His real name is William Cotter, and he goes by Bill. He has used it himself on Barstool (“Before Billy Football was on the internet, there was a William Cotter”) and ran for Congress as Bill Cotter. The nickname dates to his 2017 internship, when he was about to start college football. He is Williams College class of 2021, where he studied political economy (The Williams Record).

Where can I watch Billy Football?

His old work is still up. His Barstool page has his blogs through October 2024, and his Pardon My Take and Macrodosing years are in those shows’ back catalogs. The 53 episodes of Audiocraic include sit-downs with Rico Bosco and Glenny Balls. Last Chance Uganda is on The Wonton Don’s YouTube channel. His accounts are X @Billyhottakes and Instagram @b1llyfootball.

What is Billy Football’s net worth?

He does not publish a number and neither do we.

Who is Billy Football’s dad? What about his family?

Not something we cover.

Who represents Billy Football?

Nothing is public. His X profile lists no agent or booking contact, only a link to his podcast. Ames Create does not represent him; we cover him because people keep asking what happened to him, and the answer is on the record in his own words. If that changes, this entry will say so.

Our read

Ames Create does not work with Billy Football. This is our view, from a team that works on creator brands for a living.

The format. Billy was the intern who never stopped being the intern. Pardon My Take built a running character out of a real 18-year-old: the supplement stack, the conspiracy tangents, the football takes delivered with total confidence. It worked because he would actually do the thing, whether that was a boxing match with Jose Canseco or a flight to Uganda to coach.

Why it travels. His moments spread as office stories. Billy got suspended, Billy is fighting Canseco, Billy is running for Congress. Each one is a headline that needs no context, and each one sent people to search his name, which is why most of the questions on this page start with “what happened.”

Brand fit. Nobody right now. He has said he is working outside media and has not committed to coming back. If he does, the fits are the ones his own content pointed at: football, supplements and training, travel and the outdoors. A brand team would also weigh that he ran for office under a party label in 2024.
