Jersey Jerry is Gerard Gilfone, a Barstool Sports personality from New Jersey and a former union pipefitter. Dave Portnoy announced him as Barstool’s newest hire in September 2021, and in January 2024 he stayed on a golf simulator for more than 37 hours and 2,627 swings until he made a hole-in-one, a livestream Awful Announcing counted at more than 2 million YouTube views. Since then he has appeared on Wake Up Barstool on FS1, co-hosted the Steelers podcast Steel Here, and won Pardon My Take’s joke “Lib of the Year” award three years running, the third time from Joe and Hunter Biden. His X account has about 514,000 followers.

What happened to Jersey Jerry? Is he still at Barstool?
He is still at Barstool. Dave Portnoy announced him as the company’s newest hire in September 2021, and his X bio still lists Barstool Sports. In July 2026 he was on Team Barstool for Celebrity Family Feud with Portnoy and Rico Bosco, a 543-0 loss per Awful Announcing, and the same week he took his third Lib of the Year award on Pardon My Take. One thing that did change: the stream channel he made famous is now called Barstool After Dark, and its description names a different host. We have seen no announcement that he is leaving.
Why did Jersey Jerry get suspended?
We could not find a report in major or trade press of Barstool suspending him, so we will not guess at one. What is public is an X suspension. On January 10, 2024, days after the hole-in-one stream, Barstool After Dark posted a statement from him and noted that his account was “still suspended.” Later that day he posted that he had it back. We have not seen a reason from him or from X. The other suspension in the story belongs to a viewer: Golf Digest reported that a fan who missed two days of work to watch the stream was suspended for a week without pay.
Why is Jersey Jerry Lib of the Year?
It is a joke award. Pardon My Take hands out the Takies once a year, and Lib of the Year is one of them. He has won it three years in a row. In July 2025 Pete Buttigieg presented it in a recorded message, citing his “evolving perspective on immigration” and “being open to the idea that vaccines actually work,” per TheWrap. On July 24, 2026 the presenters were Joe and Hunter Biden, per Fox News and Awful Announcing. His answer to the former president: “All right, Sleepy Joe. Thank you, brother.” His X bio now reads “3X LOTY.”
Is Jersey Jerry a liberal or MAGA?
We have not seen him publish a label for himself, and we do not assign one. What is on the record: TheWrap described him as right-leaning in July 2025 and noted that he took that year’s award call wearing a signed Make America Great Again hat. On the Barstool Yak he said he had “flipped” on immigration: “For years, I thought if you’re not here legally, you shouldn’t be here at all.” The “lib” tag comes from the Pardon My Take award, which is a bit.
Why is Jersey Jerry a Steelers fan?
He has not given a reason we can cite, so we will not invent one for a New Jersey native. What is public is how long it has been true. In January 2021, before Barstool, BroBible was already writing about his “love for the Pittsburgh Steelers.” His Barstool bio reads “Steelers 4 life,” his Barstool shows include the Steel Here podcast with Kevin Adams, and FS1 clips his reactions on Wake Up Barstool when they lose.

An episode of Jerry After Dark with one rule: he could not stop until he made a hole-in-one on a simulator version of the 7th at Pebble Beach. It started on Tuesday, January 2, 2024 and ended around 11 a.m. Thursday on swing 2,627, after more than 37 hours. GOLF.com counted more than 60,000 people watching live, Max Homa and Brooks Koepka among them, and Tom Brady, Scott Van Pelt and the PGA Tour all posted about it. Golf Digest later reported a sequel set for TGL’s SoFi Center on January 2, 2025.

Our read
Ames Create does not work with Jersey Jerry. This is our view, from a team that works on creator brands for a living.
The format. Jerry’s format is endurance plus honesty. He commits to something a little beyond him, a hole-in-one, a bet, a Steelers season, and lets the camera watch him not get it for a very long time. The payoff lands because the struggle was real and he never pretended otherwise.
Why it travels. The hole-in-one stream spread because it had a clock, a swing counter and one question anyone could follow. People checked back in the way they check a score. The Lib of the Year bit travels the same way: one clip, one surprising presenter, and a reaction that needs no setup.
Brand fit. Golf simulators and equipment, sportsbooks, and anything sold to NFL fans on a Thursday night. He works inside Barstool, so a brand is buying Barstool’s tone along with him, and the political bit means a brand should know which clip it is standing next to. For cautious brands that is a conversation to have first.
