Questions people ask
Who is Dan Soder?
Dan Soder is a stand-up comedian, actor and podcaster. He started doing stand-up in college at the University of Arizona and moved to New York after graduating in 2005, per Famous Birthdays. His own site lists his specials Not Special (Comedy Central), Son of a Gary (HBO, 2019) and On The Road (YouTube), a Netflix set on The Standups, eight years co-hosting The Bonfire on SiriusXM, and the role of Mafee on Showtime’s Billions.
Why did Dan Soder leave The Bonfire? Is he still on the Bonfire podcast?
No, he is not on it. As of October 2026, The Bonfire airs live Monday through Thursday on SiriusXM’s Faction Talk with Big Jay Oakerson and Robert Kelly, per the show’s podcast listing. Soder’s own bio says he co-hosted it from 2015 to 2023, and Robert Kelly now sits in the second chair. He has not explained the reason in any interview or press piece we could source, and we found no report of a falling out in major or trade press. What is public: he moved to his own podcast, Soder, on YouTube, and his site still lists 6th and Jump, a show where he, Oakerson and Ari Shaffir break down 21 Jump Street.
Where does Dan Soder live? Is he from the Bay Area?
He is not from the Bay Area. He was born in Hartford, Connecticut, per Famous Birthdays, and grew up in Aurora, Colorado, per an Associated Press profile from November 2023. He went to college in Arizona and moved to New York to do comedy after graduating. He has not published the city he lives in now, so we do not list one.
Why is Dan Soder a 49ers fan?
He has not explained a 49ers allegiance in anything we could source. What is public: his close friend since their teenage years, Mike McDaniel, coached on the San Francisco 49ers offensive staff before he became the Miami Dolphins head coach, per NBC Sports Bay Area in January 2020. Soder himself grew up in Colorado, not California.
What happened between Dan Soder and Mike McDaniel?
They are old friends, not collaborators. The Associated Press described Soder in November 2023 as one of McDaniel’s closest friends, saying the two grew up together in Aurora, Colorado. After the Dolphins fired McDaniel in January 2026, Soder criticized the team on his podcast, Awful Announcing reported on January 14, 2026: he said owner Stephen Ross had broken a promise to McDaniel, blamed Troy Aikman’s role in the front office search, and said McDaniel was better off away from Miami.
Is Dan Soder in Tires?
Yes. Netflix cast him as Frank, a classic car collector who trusts Cal with the upkeep, one of six recurring additions for season 3, per ComingSoon on March 31, 2026. Who represents Dan Soder?

Our read
Ames Create does not work with Dan Soder. This is our view, from a team that works on creator brands for a living.
The format. Eight years of daily live radio built the base: two hours of loose, unscripted talk with a friend, taken off air and posted as a podcast. He now runs the same hang under his own name on YouTube, next to theatre stand-up and a steady run of TV acting.
Why it travels. His audience follows him across formats rather than one platform: Bonfire listeners to his own podcast, Billions and Tires viewers to his specials. Sports talk travels too, as the January 2026 coverage of his comments on the Dolphins showed, because it reaches fans who never listened to a comedy show.
Brand fit. A natural fit for sports, beer, men’s lifestyle, ticketing and podcast reads, where his conversational style sells better than a script. His stand-up and podcast are adult and unfiltered, so family brands are a harder fit, and a brand should expect him to riff around the read rather than recite it.
