Questions people ask

Who is Luis J. Gomez?

Luis J. Gomez is a comedian, writer, podcaster and producer based in New York City. His site lists TV spots on NBC’s Last Comic Standing, Comedy Central’s Roast Battle, TruTV’s Comedy Knockout and The Jim Gaffigan Show, a Breakout Performer nod at Just for Laughs in Montreal, and guest spots on The Joe Rogan Experience, Kill Tony and The Tim Dillon Show. Off stage he is a business owner: he started the GaS Digital Network with Ralph Sutton in 2016 and co-created Skankfest, the festival that grew out of Legion of Skanks. In a 2018 Interrobang interview he said that before stand-up he produced shows and started an MMA podcast called Hammerfisting.

Why did Luis J. Gomez leave Legion of Skanks? Is he still on the show?

He has not left. As of October 2026 he is still a co-host: the show’s feed lists Big Jay Oakerson, Luis J. Gomez and Steve Rannazzisi on the episodes released September 25 and October 2, 2026, and his site lists the live taping at The Stand in New York every Monday. The departure people may be thinking of is Dave Smith’s. Smith announced he was leaving in a clip from episode 928, posted March 4, 2026, and said his goodbyes on episode 930, posted March 18. Ari Shaffir then sat in the third chair until episode 943 (June 19, 2026), which the feed describes as his farewell before a move to London.

Why did Luis J. Gomez leave Believe You Me?

Neither he nor Michael Bisping has given a reason in anything we could source. What is public: he was Bisping’s co-host on the MMA podcast Believe You Me for years; a GaS Digital highlight from June 2016 already calls Bisping his co-host. The show’s feed lists him on every episode through #355, released September 28, 2021. Episode #356, released October 19, 2021, was titled “BYM 2.0 - We Ain’t Goin Nowhere,” and its notes say Bisping and producer Mike Harrington “discuss the recent changes to the show.” He has talked about the split on his own streams, but we could not verify a quote, so we do not paraphrase one. Believe You Me now runs with Bisping and Paul Felder.

Why did Luis J. Gomez fight Kurt Metzger?

Neither of them has given an account we could source in print, so we do not guess at the cause. What is public: the friction goes back to at least October 2018, when Jeff Leach posted a Savage Snowflake episode with Metzger titled as Metzger versus Gomez. GaS Digital later posted a Legion of Skanks clip (posted July 2025, labelled episode #384) described as the two of them fighting onstage at The Comedy Store. Things are workable now: in April 2026 GaS Digital posted a Legion of Skanks bonus clip with Metzger as the guest.

Is Luis J. Gomez a fighter? Why did he fire Harrington?

He is a comedian, and fighting is a running part of his content. In July 2019 he posted a video of an MMA bout at Skankfest against Mike Harrington, a GaS Digital employee, with the premise that Harrington was fighting his boss “in order to keep his job,” and Ari Shaffir as guest referee. That is the firing people search for, and it was the setup for the bit. We found no sourced record of Harrington actually being fired: he kept appearing in Gomez’s Fight Journal series through at least August 2023, and the Believe You Me feed lists him as Bisping’s producer in October 2021.

Where are Luis J. Gomez’s tour dates and shows?

Legion of Skanks tapes live at The Stand on Mondays. Dates change, so check the site before buying.

His stand-up and clips are on YouTube at @LuisJGomezComedy, including his third special, You’re Making This Worse (November 2025, filmed at Side Splitters in Tampa), and 30 Minutes with Luis J. If that changes, this entry will say so.

Our read

Ames Create does not work with Luis J. Gomez. This is our view, from a team that works on creator brands for a living.

The format. Live podcasts in front of a paying room. Legion of Skanks, Story Warz and The Regz are all taped with an audience, so every episode is also a show, and Gomez plays the instigator: the co-host who will say the thing, then defend it to the table. Owning the network the shows run on means the format answers to him, not to a platform.

Why it travels. The clips sell themselves on conflict: a fight onstage, a co-host leaving, a bet gone wrong. GaS Digital cuts every episode into titled clips, and the long-running feuds and friendships give fans a cast to follow from show to show. Skankfest turns that audience into ticket buyers once a year.

Brand fit. The shows already carry direct-to-consumer sponsors like Quince, BodyBrainCoffee and Trollco, so the door is open for brands that want a loyal, mostly male comedy audience and do not mind the company. Legion of Skanks calls itself the most offensive podcast on earth and means it, so family and mainstream brands are not a fit.
