Questions people ask
Who is Uncle Chaps?
Uncle Chaps is a Barstool Sports blogger and podcaster and a former Marine. His Barstool bio describes him as a “Marine and Purple Heart recipient” and lists him as host of Zero Blog Thirty and co-host of The Podfathers, a fatherhood podcast he started in 2016 with Kevin Clancy and Clem, and that also had Large as a co-host, per its feed. Today he is best known as half of Drop A Pin, Barstool’s weekly travel show, with The Wonton Don.
What happened to Uncle Chaps? Is he still at Barstool?
Uncle Chaps is still at Barstool as of October 2026; what changed is the shows. In order: he announced his move to Barstool Chicago on KFC Radio on May 1, 2023, and later wrote that he had moved from Texas. The Podfathers went quiet after a one-off episode in September 2023. Drop A Pin premiered on October 14, 2024, and Zero Blog Thirty, the military podcast he had hosted since 2016, aired its final episode on January 15, 2025. In 2026 he started traveling solo for the show, with trips to Budapest and Medellín recapped on Drop A Pin in March and May that became the series No Objectives; a Greenland trip with White Sox Dave, filmed for No Objectives, was billed for September 17, 2026, per the show’s notes. Drop A Pin reached episode 106 on October 19, 2026, with him still co-hosting.
Why did Zero Blog Thirty end? Did Uncle Chaps leave the show?
Zero Blog Thirty ended rather than Uncle Chaps leaving it, and as of October 2026 neither he nor Barstool has given a reason in anything we could source. What is public: the feed’s final episode, released January 15, 2025, has Chaps, Kate and Cons “sign off” on the show. Six weeks later, on February 26, 2025, the same feed relaunched as Bold American, hosted by Captain Cons, Ryan Manion and Rob Boeckmann, without Chaps. By then he had been co-hosting Drop A Pin for four months.
Did Uncle Chaps get a Purple Heart? What did he do in the Marines?
Yes, Uncle Chaps received a Purple Heart, by his own account. His Barstool bio calls him a Purple Heart recipient, and in Zero Blog Thirty’s notes from August 2022, comparing his Iraq with Donnie’s trip there, he wrote: “I got shot, he got margaritas.” A July 31, 2024 Zero Blog Thirty episode, titled as his complete combat story told for the first time, says in the show’s feed that he served as a Marine military working dog handler with a dog named Psycho, ran 103 counterinsurgency combat missions, found and cleared IEDs, took part in raids and counter-sniper operations in Fallujah, and earned the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with Combat Distinguishing Device. He talked about Fallujah again on Drop A Pin Ep. 24 in March 2025.
Where does Uncle Chaps live, and where is he from?
As of October 2026, Uncle Chaps is based in Chicago, where he works out of Barstool’s office. In an April 2024 blog he wrote about “moving from Texas to Chicago.” He is a Jacksonville Jaguars fan from Duval County, Florida: “It’s a great year to be from Duval County,” he wrote in January 2026. A December 2025 Drop A Pin episode notes that part of his childhood was spent in Sicily.
What is Uncle Chaps’ real name? How old is he?
Uncle Chaps goes by Chaps on air, and his Barstool byline is simply “Chaps.” The July 2024 Zero Blog Thirty episode about his service, from his own show’s feed, refers to him as Corporal Cothron; we found no full name published by him or by major press. He has not published a birthdate, so we do not list an age.
Does Uncle Chaps have a wife?
Uncle Chaps has mentioned his wife on Barstool shows: The Podfathers’ notes from June 2017 mention her, and she joined him on a KFC Radio Friday Night Pints episode in March 2020, per the show’s notes. She is not a public figure, so we do not name her, and we have not found him addressing his marriage on the record since.
Was Uncle Chaps arrested? Is there a controversy?
As of October 2026, we found no report of an Uncle Chaps arrest in major or trade press, and no controversy about him covered there either.
Does Uncle Chaps have a Wikipedia page?
Uncle Chaps does not have a Wikipedia biography of his own as of October 2026. This entry draws on his Barstool bio, his blogs and the notes of the shows he hosts.
Where can I watch Uncle Chaps?
Uncle Chaps’ show Drop A Pin comes out every Monday on YouTube and Apple Podcasts, and his No Objectives episodes run on the same YouTube channel. His own clips are on TikTok and YouTube, and his blogs are on his Barstool page. Zero Blog Thirty’s archive, 2016 to January 2025, sits in the Bold American feed, and The Podfathers archive is here.

What about Uncle Chaps’ politics, family or personal life?

Who represents Uncle Chaps?
As of October 2026, Uncle Chaps works for Barstool Sports, and his public pages name no agent or manager. Our read
Ames Create does not work with Uncle Chaps. This is our view, from a team that works on creator brands for a living.
The format. Two hosts and a map: each Drop A Pin episode picks a place, brings in someone who has been there and digs into it, from the famous parts to the strange ones. Chaps plays the curious everyman across from Donnie, the seasoned traveler, and his own trips now carry the No Objectives videos.
Why it travels. The episode titles do the work, a jailed traveler in Syria or a hostel in Medellín is a click on its own, and the Drop A Pin channel has about 166,000 subscribers to carry it. His Marine background gives the war-zone episodes a weight a travel show usually lacks.
Brand fit. Travel and outdoor brands already sit around him: Drop A Pin has carried reads for Fora, NOBULL and Shady Rays, and Zero Blog Thirty ran reads for Rocky Boots and WhistlePig. His blogs are written in Barstool’s crude house style, so family brands should stick to the podcast.
