Who is Ralph Barbosa?

Ralph Barbosa is a stand-up comedian from Dallas, Texas, known for a slow, deadpan delivery; his own site calls him “the shyest attention hog in comedy.” He worked as a barber at a shop in Oak Cliff before comedy took over, per the Dallas Morning News in September 2023, and was named Funniest Comic in Texas in 2019, per the Dallas Observer. He has two hour-long specials, Cowabunga on Netflix (2023) and Planet Bosa on Hulu (2025), and appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon in January 2023 and The Joe Rogan Experience in November 2023, per KRIS 6 News.

Ralph Barbosa: Cowabunga premiered October 31, 2023, filmed in August 2023 at the Kessler Theater in Dallas, across the street from the barbershop where he used to cut hair, per the Dallas Morning News. Its Netflix title page is live, and his own site still says “Cowabunga on Netflix.” We found no report in major or trade press of Netflix removing it. Why did Ralph Barbosa get cancelled? What happened with George Lopez?

As of October 2026, we found no report in major or trade press of Ralph Barbosa being cancelled, dropped by a platform or pulling a tour. The most covered dust-up was one where he was the target. On the February 6, 2023 episode of George Lopez’s podcast OMG Hi!, guest Steve Treviño praised Barbosa and Lopez said nobody knew who he was, per the Dallas Observer. After the clip drew backlash, Lopez called him to apologize. Barbosa said he did not think Lopez meant it in a personal way, that he accepted the apology and that it was “water under the bridge,” per Remezcla in February 2023. He was more bothered by Treviño’s suggestion that newer comics have it easy: “Who said it’s easy? Who said I’m not working?”

Who represents Ralph Barbosa?

Our read

Ames Create does not work with Ralph Barbosa. This is our view, from a team that works on creator brands for a living.

The format. Dry, slow stand-up about cars, family and his own bad ideas, delivered like he would rather not be up there. The shyness is the joke and the hook: the room leans in to hear him, and the punchline lands quietly. A car channel and a podcast with friends give the same voice a second and third place to live.

Why it travels. Short stand-up clips cut well from a delivery this deadpan, and his Instagram, TikTok and YouTube add up to roughly 3.7 million followers before the Formula Bean audience. Two specials on two different platforms put him in front of two catalogs.

Brand fit. Car culture is the natural lane: aftermarket parts, tools, tires and energy drinks fit Formula Bean without a stretch. Streaming, ticketing and casual food brands fit the stand-up side. His material is TV-MA and the persona is unbothered, so a brand should let him underplay the read rather than script a pitch.
