Questions people ask

Who is Kam Patterson?

Kam Patterson is a stand-up comedian and actor from Orlando, Florida, and a cast member on Saturday Night Live. He started at open mics in Orlando in 2021, moved to Austin in 2023, per the Orlando Weekly, and became a weekly regular on Kill Tony that summer, where Tony Hinchcliffe called him “a phenom,” per LateNighter. He played Madison Square Garden with the show in August 2024, joined SNL in 2025 and made his feature film debut in Netflix’s 72 Hours in 2026. His club bio says Netflix put him on its 2025 “Introducing” list.

What happened to Kam Patterson?

In short: he went from Kill Tony to SNL. On September 2, 2025, Variety reported that SNL had added him as one of five new featured players for season 51, describing him as regularly featured on Kill Tony. His last credited Kill Tony taping was September 22, 2025, and SNL’s season opened October 4. In January 2026 a set he did on a Kill Tony Netflix special, joking about SNL, drew criticism (covered below). He stayed on the show and returned for season 52 in September 2026.

What happened to Kam Patterson on Kill Tony? Why did he leave, and is he still on it?

He left the weekly cast when he joined SNL. He has not given a longer public reason that we could source, but after the announcement he posted, as quoted by Complex, “Monday nights changed my life, let’s see how I do on Saturdays.” The show’s own episode notes credit him in the cast on 121 episodes, from #618 (recorded June 19, 2023) to #738 (recorded September 22, 2025, released October 6, 2025), often next to Hans Kim, William Montgomery and Casey Rocket. As of October 9, 2026, none of the 50 numbered episodes since, #739 through #788, lists him. He did perform on the Netflix special Kill Tony: Once Upon a Time in Texas, covered in January 2026 by Out, so he is no longer a weekly regular, but he has appeared on the show’s Netflix special since joining SNL.

Did Kam Patterson start on Kill Tony? Did he get a golden ticket?

Kill Tony is where most people first saw him. His club bio says he was “first discovered” on the show in summer 2023, LateNighter reported he became a regular quickly after a single appearance, and the episode notes first list him in the regular cast on #618, recorded June 19, 2023, the same night as David Lucas. We could not find a source saying he was given a golden ticket, so we do not say he was. Before Kill Tony he worked Orlando rooms, starting at a weekly comedy night at Night Shade Lounge, per the Orlando Weekly.

Why did SNL hire Kam Patterson?

SNL did not give a public reason. What is public: Complex reported in late August 2025, citing TMZ, that the show was considering him, and NBC announced him on September 2, per Complex. Variety noted his Kill Tony work and his part in Kevin Hart’s Netflix film 72 Hours, and Cracked read the hire as a bid for the Kill Tony audience. That is Cracked’s view, not the show’s.

Is Kam Patterson still on SNL? Is he returning?

Yes, as of October 2026. Nerdist listed him among last season’s additions returning for season 52 on September 16, 2026, and The A.V. Club’s recap of the September 26 premiere, hosted by Jalen Brunson, singles out a line of his in one sketch. He joined in season 51 as a featured player; we have not seen a report that he was promoted to the repertory cast.

What was the Kam Patterson SNL controversy?

In January 2026, during his first SNL season, he did a set on the Netflix special Kill Tony: Once Upon a Time in Texas in which he joked that he had never seen SNL before being cast, said it was “for white people,” and, “in the nicest way possible,” called the show gay, as reported by Out and CinemaBlend on January 15, 2026. CinemaBlend reported that many SNL fans took it as a jab at the show while Kill Tony fans defended it as his style. Neither outlet reported a response from him or NBC, and we have not found one. He finished the season and was back for season 52.

Was Kam Patterson arrested? What about the fire alarm, or Yale?

We found no report of an arrest in major or trade press, and nothing on the record about a fire alarm incident, so we do not repeat either. We also found no source saying he went to Yale: his published bios start with open mics in Orlando in 2021.

Is Kam Patterson in a movie? Is he on tour?

Yes to both. He made his feature film debut in Netflix’s 72 Hours in summer 2026, with Kevin Hart and his SNL castmates Marcello Hernández and Ben Marshall, and in August 2026 joined Amazon MGM’s tennis rom-com Love Love from writer-director Joey Power, per Deadline. LateNighter also reported a part in Busboys, the comedy from Theo Von and David Spade. On stage, his Dreams in Motion Tour ran 44 dates in 16 cities from January to June 2026, per LateNighter, and Louisville Comedy Club lists him October 15 to 17, 2026.

How old is Kam Patterson? What is his real name?

He is 27, born April 10, 1999, per Famous Birthdays. His full first name is Kameron: his YouTube channel is registered as Kameron Patterson and the Orlando Weekly uses the same name. Kamsoofunny is his handle on most platforms.

Where can I watch Kam Patterson?

On Saturday Night Live on NBC and Peacock, in 72 Hours on Netflix, and in his Kill Tony sets, episodes 618 to 738 on the Kill Tony channel plus the show’s Netflix specials. His own clips are on Instagram @kamsoofunny, TikTok @kamsoofunny1 and YouTube @Kamsoofunny, and tour dates are on his site, kamsoofunny.com.

He does not publish a number and neither do we.

Who represents Kam Patterson?

Deadline reported in August 2026 that he is represented by Brillstein, WME and Fox Rothschild. Ames Create does not represent him; we cover him because people keep asking why he left Kill Tony for SNL, and the record answers most of it. If that changes, this entry will say so.

Our read

Ames Create does not work with Kam Patterson. This is our view, from a team that works on creator brands for a living.

The format. High-energy stand-up built on stories about growing up and fast, confrontational crowd work. On Kill Tony that meant a one-minute set and then a back-and-forth with the host that often ran longer than the set, which suited him. On SNL he has worked on Weekend Update and in sketches, and LateNighter noted that his first Update spot referenced his stand-up act.

Why it travels. Kill Tony clips carried him first, and the show’s Netflix specials and Madison Square Garden nights put him in front of a much bigger room. SNL added a national TV audience, and the January 2026 clip showed the other side of that reach: a joke made for one crowd gets judged by another.

Brand fit. He now sits inside NBC, Netflix and Amazon MGM with Brillstein and WME behind him, so mainstream brands can reach him through the usual channels: apparel, sneakers, beverages, streaming and live events. The stand-up is explicit and confrontational, so family brands should look elsewhere, and he has shown he will joke about the network that employs him. Expect his voice, not a script.
